Todd Collin's performance at the end of the year was like a Cinderella story. Collins is a career backup and has never proven to be a starter. He comes in and does a great job for four games, basically what he is paid to do, and now he is supposed to be the starter. Not. Seattle exposed his obvious weak arm and lack of mobility. Cinderella's carriage turned into a pumpkin. It would be foolish to promote him to starter.

I care about the success of the team. The better man should start. Truthfully if TC was the starter we would have won alot more games.

The O line didnt help TC at all. If JC was still playing we would have been 6-10.

With Gibbs leaving, if Saunders isn't retained, I would fully expect Collins to go where Al goes.

Campbell should probably be a little concerned right now. Yesterday's comments notwithstanding, Gibbs was JC's biggest advocate. Who's on his side now. I don't think he's going anywhere, but it's put up or shut up time now.

If Campbell isn't the starter next year I'm gonna blow a damn gasket. Am I wrong in saying that the Skins have had more starting QB's in the last 10 yrs. than any other team? Hell with that dumbass Spurrier we had two starters. Kinda, sorta.
Collins played great, but for God sakes we have to stick with one guy and actually commit to him.

Wow - it's like offiss part deux. Wasn't this what we said about Ramsey a couple years ago?
Look. I like JC, I think JC is the future. With that said, the boy better be able to take a little competition. That's the way the NFL rolls - unless your name is Farve, Manning or Brady, someone is always trying to take your job. So put your big boy pants on JC and show'em why your the number 1 guy in town.
JC has progressed and if he continues to do so, no worries - ain't no way TC takes the job from an improved Campbell. BUT, if he pulls a Ramsey and just doesn't get any better, then TC steps in until the next "QB of the future" rolls into town.
Campbell has shown some great flashes (just like Ramsey did). He has also thrown some big interceptions (just like Ramsey did). Next year is Campbell's "year of no excuses" year. I fully expect him to rise to the occasion. If he doesn't, well, then we better have a fall back plan and TC showed that he is it.
I'm def. not Offiss part deux. And I never would've said anything like that about Ramsey a couple years ago. I watched Ramsey under Spurrier, and I knew I wasn't gonna be shocked if he never turned out to be a good quarterback. JC is young, he's coming off an injury, and even when he was playing he wasn't playing that great. He witnessed his backup play superbly, so good that even though the dude is 36 and probably gonna be retiring sooner rather than later, people were still saying that he should be the starter next season.
Witnessing your backup do what you can't would probably make him a little concerned about his job security, and then not having your coach come out and say that you'll be the starter next season probably concerned him even more. I hate the "If I was Jason's agent I'd ask for a trade" just as much as the next person, but please, it's not that hard to give the guy you've invested so much in a little vote of confidence heading into the offseason. I'm not saying we need to pamper and baby Jason Campbell until he becomes a big boy, I'm saying is it worth creating unnecessary controversy because you don't want to endorse the guy you're supposed to be depending on in the long term.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with some honest competition, but no honest competition can exist between now and September.
How can it? There are no games.
If Campbell is to be considered the frontrunner, how can Collins over take the front runner without ever proving anything in a game situation? Some coach would have to make a mistake and overvalue practice and preseason play.
Truth is that we already know just as much about Campbell and about Collins as we will in week one of next season. Sure you can "have a competition." You just can't have a winner.
