Did I miss something? When did Caldwell all of a sudden have all these drops? Seattle had some excellent coverage yesterday and were blanketing our WRs all day.

He's had a horrible year, bad drops at bad times, and when he gave up on that INT -- I was pissed. He Shockey'd it. BrunellMVP? 01-06-2008, 03:59 PM moss had a pretty big td catch today, but him quitting on the int was unacceptable i just dont think he saw it... and its queue. GTripp0012 01-06-2008, 05:19 PM i just dont think he saw it... and its queue.I'm pretty sure it's "cue", but I might be wrong. "Que" of course is Spanish for "What?!" GMScud 01-06-2008, 05:24 PM I'm pretty sure it's "cue", but I might be wrong. "Que" of course is Spanish for "What?!" For the sake of this thread, I'm sure it's "cue." If something is in "queue," that means it's lined up and waiting- like when you are printing multiple tasks on a computer, those waiting to print go into "queue." I think. MTRedskinsFan 01-06-2008, 06:26 PM Did I miss something? When did Caldwell all of a sudden have all these drops? Seattle had some excellent coverage yesterday and were blanketing our WRs all day. Caldwell was cut from his previous team for dropping the ball much like our own Santana Moss has all season (and yesterday). Though Caldwell was one of our more reliable WR's regular season (not saying much) his drop yesterday was inexcusable. The only catch not made yesterday that was excusable was Cooley in the flat defended by their safety. Moss had drops (two that I remember) that killed us, Cooley had one on the 1yard line that probably meant the difference between a win and a loss - certainly it wasn't a perfectly thrown pass but Cooley was able to get his hands all the way around it and pull it into his body, and in the NFL like every single commentator says those kind of passes need to be caught. Partly why I felt like the drops were more important is because our top WR's were healthy, compared to a 3rd and 4th string o-line. Fabini shouldn't even be a backup anywhere and Heyer shouldn't be active yet, so the troubles there were not surprising. We all know that situation. It's different w/ the receivers. They're healthy, it's the playoffs, and had there been 0 dropped passes instead of the 5 or 6 i counted we're probably headed to Dallas. Onto the bigger picture, drops were huge all year. I strongly suspect all the dropped passes messed w/ JC's confidence. Some games we saw as many as 7,8, or 9 dropped passes, which easily amounts to over 100 yds of offense. Inexcusable. And nobody can tell me the drops didn't mess w/ TC's confidence yesterday either. Obviously getting smacked around every other play was a big worry but when there's finally a shot to get a first down (especially during that first half) and a perfectly thrown ball bounces off Moss' forearm to yield another 3 and out: that's pretty much gone kill any momentum. That Guy 01-07-2008, 12:33 AM the only WR that needs to go is lloyd. the other 3 (moss el caldwell) are good. having a stud would be great, but i think this thread was started on a very reactionary note :P guess how many other teams had franchise QBs go down. (5). how many teams have 2 OL starters on IR? (6). how many of those teams made it to the playoffs? that's right, we were the only one, on both counts. no rest, cross-country playoff match-up with 10 guys on IR (and one dead) after 4 must wins in a row... it's not like we had the world's best chance to begin with, but it was fun to get caught up in how well we were playing and ignore that other teams were pretty good too (and in much better shape to win a wild card matchup). that's life. we're a pretty good team, and our depth was much better this year, but there's still work to do there, and a couple spots that could possibly have major upgrades (LB #3, DE #2, SS, WR #1/#2, another CB for when springs finally leaves or can be effective). and caldwell was cut to give him a better chance at more playing time. he's really a #3/#4 WR, and it's not his fault that NE decided to march him out horribly overmatched for 16+ weeks last year. fortysixdefense 01-07-2008, 02:43 AM Looking at how poorly key players performed not only today but throughout the season, it is now beyond obvious we need to take a que from the best team/best coach in the league: the NE Patriots/Bill Belichick. The Pats cleaned house on all their receivers from last year and went out to get high quality guys (unfortunately, we got some of the leavings in Caldwell who dropped a pass today). But the drops, all year long, and the extraordinary mental errors from Moss have been appalling. This is not to mention the complete bust of B. Lloyd. It is time to retire the WR corps and bring in new guys. This is aside from bringing in new talent on the o-line, which probably remains the top priority, but I think after today the extreme weakness in the WR group cannot be ignored. However... looking at the bigger picture this season was an enormous improvement over '06. We have a very long way to go but the defense looks pretty solid going forward, which gives coaches/front office the opportunity to go out and build an offense. What a great thread this is. I got banned from one board for chanting this same mantra. Jon Jansen and Randy Thomas have both been injured in each of the last two years. If they can't finish the season then they need replacements to start for them. Replacements that are not scrubs like Fabini. I agree with your post but there are too numerous positions to talk about. This chat room stuff gets old because its too slow. I want to know if anybody likes to talk live or if there is a live chat room with audio about the SKINS. If not, I am thinking about starting a Redskins weekly conference call line where we could get together on the phone in a chat room environment. Anyone else interested except me? Maybe you can work on that hot new technology called phone party lines. I heard that's the next big thing, you can talk to like 30 other people ALL at the same time! I'm always on those lines at night while I'm kicking it with my Sony Walkman. That's hot! mheisig 01-07-2008, 01:03 PM What a great thread this is.
