Theres a reason this guy doesn't write on page 1.

Haha (although my guy Gregg Easterbrook also is on "Page 2" so ...). Bill Simmons also picked the Titans to get blown out by 27 to the Chargers. Last I checked Vince Young doesn't play defense and Tennessee can bring it on D, I don't see them getting beaten by 27, or the Skins getting pummeled by 15. If Mr. Simmons took a look at the schedule he'd see that, excluding the New England game, the margin of defeat in the Skins other six losses came by margins of 7, 3, 8 (when they allowed Philly to score in order to get the ball back), 5, 6, and 1. All this while playing the 2nd toughest schedule in the league. I can see taking the 'Hawks, especially at home, but his scores are total B.S. (the fact that the shorthand for his column is the B.S. report is the only accurate part of the report).

If you are 118-129-9 (how do you tie?) then why do you get to keep making picks? Shouldn't someone shut you down at that point?

Do you guys read his stuff often?
Bohnzie hit the nail on the head when he said:
Bill Simmons is a "sports"writer, as in, he writes about sports, but he does it more for comedic value (hence his spot on Page2). The article is based purely on a "system" he has for picking games. If you go by his system, you can't help but pick the Seahawks.
He is supposed to write more like a fan than a so-called expert and he always mocks himself for being wrong.

That being said, he does try to be logical about his picks so I find it kind of surprising that he doesn't even acknowledge that this team is playing on raw emotion and passion. Normally this is the kind of thing he would consider, especially if it was on the part of his beloved pats, but I guess he's too far removed (in LA) to know how the Skins have been as of late.

He's a douche, but the bit on Chris Collinsworth had me laughing out loud. Priceless.

Yup since one person at ESPN gave his opinion that means that's ESPN for you. Makes total sense. GTripp picked the Seahawks to win, but you know that's The Warpath for you. Every idiot (not calling you an idiot Tripp) on here has no clue and is picking Seattle.

Mike Greenberg, Marcellus Wiley, and Ray Buchanan (among others) all picked the Redskins. Why isn't that "ESPN for you now?"

True, I tend to get a bit upset when people are continually bashing my colleagues and where I work. But it's fine when there's some substance behind the complaint. Not when they are stupid generalizations.

Yeah, that's people for you it is always the negative. "The glass is always half empty."

Bill Simmons is an insufferable a-hole. The fact that he's a pompous Patriots/Red Sox/Celtics fan makes him even more difficult to digest these days.

I guess we'll just go home. There is no point in playing this game, since ESPN says we have NO chance. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

as much as i love ESPN, its turning into more show then go. for some reason they are leaning towards people that have more style then substance. 20 years ago did we get every-ones opinion on everything? now everyone is an expert. and there's a heck of alot more yelling and arguing going on. how about they clean it up alittle bit, and get back to reporting, not just putting on a show?

dmek, I think you're the only person that loves or atleast ever admitted loving ESPN. They are absolutly horrible and will never "eventually" submit real news. They recently stated that Gibbs will eventually be inducted into the HOF.

This I actually agre with, i think i should have not made the title what it was but it seems everytime I see a shitty article that needs to be dogged its coming from somewhere in ESPN's stellar lineup of "expert analysts".

however i do enjoy ESPN for the most part and i will say this guy is a complete moron and obviously he does not speak for everyone at ESPN.

I actually love TSG, he's a humorist who writes about sports. If he was based out of DC, he'd be full-time homering for us instead of all the Bahstin teams. I don't think that's malicious or anything.

I know we're going all Gilbert Arenas and on every journo who has an opinion that doesn't involve us beating all challengers and trying to turn this into motivation and bulletin board material, but at some point we have to realize that a lot of people just talk about things they really don't have much investment in or knowledge of, because they're asked to rip off an opinion.

I mean, I don't know much about baseball but if someone asked me to write a column about it, I'd probably write something funny that would deeply offend a bunch of fans of various teams around the league, without really trying to. And similarly I get the distinct impression that Simmons really doesn't know jack about the Skins, and is just sort of blathering.

Anyway, never attribute to malice what can more easily be attributed to incompetence. A good maxim to live by :)
