Here's what I figure about Todd "House Money" Collins: He's had four occasions now where he could have folded and showed us he's a lifetime backup and that's it. He's 4-0 in those four games, an accurate (63.8 percent) and mistake-free (5-0 TD-to-interception differential) quarterback. Collins will be bedeviled by Seattle's Patrick Kerney and the league's best pass-rush west of the Meadowlands, but he'll survive and advance.

ArtMonkDrillz 01-03-2008, 02:17 PM He's been picking us for weeks now. I thik he really likes what the Skins have been doing lately.

We're all a little sensitive to the stylings of the national columnists, but in their defense, we get respect when we earn it (Hall of Fame voting aside). We all moan when Dr. Z picks us last in the division, but it's not like we're going 12-4 to rub his face in it.
The Redskins are playing great football right now. King recognizes this. Good for SI.
Daseal 01-03-2008, 02:54 PM No kidding, why do people act as if national columnists have to ride a bandwagon the whole time. The only time I have a problem is if after things turn around they start saying "told you so." These guys are paid for their opinions and try to be unbiased as possible, how many people on this site could ride that line? The skins were awful for chunks of the year, but they've come on at the right time.
BDBohnzie 01-03-2008, 02:57 PM The kiss of death would be if every single publication in the country picked the Skins to win...even then, if it's well deserved, so be it. This team is peaking at the right time.
scowan 01-03-2008, 03:08 PM Its the trendy pick of the week to like the Skins Saturday. Like picking the Jags over the Steelers. Who is playing better right now the Seahawks or the Skins? It will be tough in the Seattle environment, but we are going to find out Saturday if the Seahawks have really been getting wins over a bunch of Losers or if they are the real deal. I think the Skins are the real deal with Collins back there. Turnovers will be key. I think both teams can and will have some success moving the ball down the field regardless of the rainy weather that is predicted. The team that wins the turnover battle will win.
You really can't go on records right now. The Seahawks have 10 wins, but if they played in the NFC East they might only have 8 or 9, so they may be more like the Skins than we all realize.

Good point.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 01-03-2008, 03:24 PM I know that most people hate Peter King and think there is a media conspiracy against the Redskins. With regard to hating Peter King, the guy has been writing extremely positive snippets about this team, the players, and the coaches virtually the entire season. The guy owned up to being wrong about Art and the HoF. The guy consistently had us ranked higher in his "Fine Fifteen" than teams with better records. He does not have it out for us.
As for the rest of the media hating us.....they don't. The media gushes over teams like the Patriots. Why? Because they win, win, win. Now that we are winning the media is raving about Gibbs, guys like Portis and Collins, and the team in general. The media hates on the losers and loves the winners.

The Redskins had the 2nd hardest schedule in the league - opponents won .555. The Seahawks had the easiest schedule in the league, by far - opponents won .414 (to put it in perspective, the second easiest schedule was .430, or four more wins). The Redskins played seven games against playoff teams this year. The Seahawks played two games against playoff teams this year.
It's clear that the Seahawks were the beneficiaries of a good schedule. We will find out if they are a good team.
dmek25 01-03-2008, 03:49 PM we bitch when he picks against us. we bitch when he picks us. we bitch when no one notices our good play. we bitch when someone notices our good play. this is just one big bitch board, heh?
