backrow 01-03-2008, 09:40 AM Jesus. Not only do I remember the "heyday of the 80"s" team but I remember the first "heyday" team of the 70's as well. Coach George Allen, Jergensen, Kilmer, Brown, Haraway, Jefferson, Taylor, Hanburger, Fischer, Houston, Bass; all names probably lost on you lil' puppies.
The first Super Bowl against the Dolphins will forever be etched in my mind. Bass streaking down the sidelines making a game of it against the undefeated Dolphins after Yepremian's botched attempt at a pass.
I know the old feeling dblanch66 is refering to and it is nice to feel it coming back. We are in a great position here as no one expects much from us...except for us fans and the team.
I remember the 60's, all of those guys along with a R. McDole, and a Joey T. However, the Jesus I know, I met in Sunday School and Church.
man, a lot of you guys have aged me esp. mr. I wasn't born till 90. I have been following the skins since the late 70's, you guys deff. missed some great ball, but the team seems to have the sense of purpose and almost destiny that it has been lacking of late and I am looking forward to seeing the play off run.
We are moving 600 miles starting tomorow morning and I am arainging everything so we will be in a hotel in front of a tv by 4:00 saturday to see the victory
This team kind of reminds me of the '87 team that basically flew under the radar.
Monkeydad 01-03-2008, 09:54 AM Wow. Lots of kids here.
I'm getting the same feeling as in '87. Jay Schoeder (Campbell) goes down. The old backup Doug Williams (Collins) steps in and the team goes on an unexpected tear with the backup QB and won 4 of the last 5 games to get into the playoffs.
Of course, Rock Cartwright is going to set a new Super Bowl rushing record and we'll trade Campbell to the Raiders if history truly repeats itself, but I do get that same feeling about Gibbs and the team looking invincible.
birdz4gibbs 01-03-2008, 10:00 AM i do recall the 70,s team and this team is getting there .
i,m with schneed you need to consistently be there year after year and it,s getting there with this team with time and with the players who are toughing it out with joe gibbs. they need to be there year in and year out and i,m hopeful of that happening.
BeastsoftheNFCeast 01-03-2008, 10:10 AM i think this feeling comes from the fact that the NFC sucks donkey dick, we can definately take the seahawks, giants, or bucs, and we just killed the cowboys (although they were missing their top corner and top reciever)...pretty much the only team that should have us worried is the packers due to their depth in the WR core and our lack of depth in the secondary. If by some miracle we make it to the show, we will probably get rocked.

Sorry that should have read "Jesus" not "Jesus".
The Spanish pronunciation did not come across in my writing (I am sure it is much clearer now).:yeahright

Such a loyal fan.

haha, sorry, i think i was a little harsh...all I was trying to say is that if we were facing NE or Indy, we wouldnt be so confident going in it...honestly I feel that in the beginning of the year we were the second best team in the NFL when it comes to talent and coaching...but I feel that with the amount of injuries that we have had (Rogers, Taylor, McIntosh, Thomas, Jansen, Wade, and all the other minor lingering injuries we've had), that its hard to feel confident going into the playoffs with 2nd/3rd stringers as starters and 3rd/4th stringers as backups. So the fact that we are confident I feel is a result of the fact that we are not playing the best teams.
It's like this.
I to, remember the Joe1 teams. While the game was was being played, you could not wait to see the next play, next series, etc, as it was more magic the home boys were about to deliver. ALWAYS the confidence to FINISH with a win.
Even though we have posted some great games (and some horrific) under the Joe2 regime, it has not been the same. It has been more like "Geez, I wish this game would end, before we have a chance to F... it up"
Until lately! It has definately gathered momentum, to more of the Joe1 kind of feeling.
EX. In the Cowboy game the other day, TC was throwing everything low (even when he did not want to). I felt like confident, (like he could still reel it in) not panicky.......like we were going to blow it. And, he did
The times....they are a changin'
