NY_Skinsfan 08-10-2004, 02:06 AM I just read this from the Washington Post in the article about the Quarterbacks Struggle.
Bailey also commented on Washington's front office chain of command. "Put it like this," said Bailey, a four-time Pro Bowl selection. "The people that know football here run the team. The people that know football in Washington don't run the team. That pretty much says it all."
I hope he was talking about the Spurrier debacle (sorry Daseal). If not, what an ass
bedlamVR 08-10-2004, 03:18 AM Wow if this is true it meens i have an awful lot less respect for Champ. Thing is if he came out and said from day one that he did not want to be here and refused to even talk to the Skins fair enough but if Dan would have broken the bank for him i have the feeling he would still be in burgendy and gold.
SmootSmack 08-10-2004, 03:29 AM Yeah, he said that and something about the difference between playing for the Redskins and Broncos like "night and day"
Whatever, he can say what he wants. Redskins should and will take the high road on this and let their play do the talking
That Guy 08-10-2004, 03:53 AM champs a rat, real classy guy... and all that...
memphisskin 08-10-2004, 10:35 AM Is he totally off base? Or did you guys miss the part about the Skins being the 3rd worst team in the NFC, something like 5th worse overall, since Gibbs retired? Say whatever you want, but the proof is in the pudding, and only the Cardinals and Saints a have worse record over that time span. So I think his comments have merit, because Snyder not knowing football is the only excuse for that piss poor record.
BrunellFan 08-10-2004, 10:54 AM He got fed up playing for a tumultuous organization. Now he is in a place with stability who annually challenges for a playoff spot.
Plus, whats he going to say. "Oh well, I wish I was back playing for Joe Gibbs"?

but my point to this was he commenting on Gibbs or Spurrier...If his comments were directed towards Gibbs then he is obviously not worthy of being a Redskin anymore...If they were directed towards Spurrier then, yes, his comments have merit.
bridaman51 08-10-2004, 11:24 AM I dont know about you all but when Champ was here I loved him. He seemed like a character guy who just wanted to play ball, and really thought he would have been excited to play for Gibbs who would teach these players how to be a true Redskin. He did not want that so out the door he went and the way the skins attacked him I loved it. He is not all that, He is not above the game nor the team. When Gardner caught that pass in front of him it was great and given a whole game I know Coles would have schooled him to.
What Champ thinks really doesn't concern me. He's not a Redskin anymore, let him say whatever he wants. Who cares?

They'd have to be directed at Snyder and Spurrier. But again, he played for the team, he hasn't been rooting for them his entire life like most of us. And he's seen Snyder continually change boats midstream. So it's not like he doesn't know what he's talking about, he was closer to the action than any of us. But, he doesn't fully understand the historical context of the situation. Gibbs is a HOF coach, and to bring him back is a huge statement by Snyder that he wants to win. I do think Champ is right, the guys who have been running Redskin football do not know football. If they did, we wouldn't have been so bad for so long. And we've been bad, one playoff win in 11 years is the same as the Arizona Cardinals. Does anyone out there think the Bidwells know football?
