Brian Billick: This Year's First Coaching Casualty

This is no surprise to me. I watched that Miami / Baltimore game, and he lost it at the end of the game. He made poor decisions and should have gone for it with 12 seconds left, but didn't. The players were seen yelling at him and he yelled back that he's the coach...I knew right there he was out.

It wasn't even an argument, it was a flat out yell fest.
If someone did that to Gibbs, Gibbs would have his ass riding the pine. Billick just took it.

Billick's offensive genius in Minnesota consisted of telling his QB to air it out to Moss, and if he was covered, throw it to Cris Carter underneath. I heard somewhere that his average offensive ranking in Baltimore was 23rd - not exactly what I would call genius.

Well, it is not uncommon for offensive guru's to fail as a head coach...he need to go back to being an OC.

That's what I find so funny. He had Moss and Chris Carter, two HOF wr's. Plus the o-line was really strong at that time. I heard last night that Josh McDaniels is going to get an interview for the Balt. job. The guy is like 32 years old. WTF are they thinking???

Looks like we have the 2nd coach that's getting fired. I just heard on the radio that Cam Cameron got the ax. Shocker.

I guess these two can get together, pound a few hundred beers, and reminisce about their epic week 15 battle. I'm sure that will be a good time.

No big surprise with Cameron. With Parcells coming in you knew he would be looking to clean house and put his own stamp on things.

Billick deserves some credit, he did win a super bowl. And last year's team was 13-3, though they flailed in the playoffs. Sometimes organizations need change & they know they can't go forward w/the guy they have. Seems Baltimore had gotten a bit out of control this year w/players saying whatever they felt about the staff. I won't be surprised if the new coach wants to clean house a little, including Ray Lewis. Ozzie Newsome & the owner might want to keep him though.

Billick deserves very little credit, as in the years the Ravens had success, it was their defense that carried them. For an offensive "genius", that's pretty bad. I wonder if Rex Ryan will get an interview as well...then he can bring in his recently fired brother to be D-Coord.

As far as Cameron goes, it was a matter of time. I wonder what Big Tuna has up his sleeve...

Yeah, but he won the super bowl in his second year with the team because he had an all time great defense, an incredible special teams unit, and a ton of luck. They went 5 games without an offensive touchdown and still managed a 12-4 (I think) record even though they were in the same division as the Titans who were a powerhouse at the time. I don't think it was Brian "the offensive guru" Billick's plan to win any games that way they just sort of lucked out and got just enough offense to sneak by some teams; but luck like thay doesn't last long.
I live within walking distance to the raven's purple mess of a stadium and most of my friends root for them but not a single one of them gives Billick more than a tiny bit of credit for anything they accomplished over the past eight or nine years. Like SouperMeister said, his great scheme in Minn. consisted of two great WR, a solid O-line, and a QB who could throw it really far down field.
