Bowl games & players to watchdmek25 01-03-2008, 04:07 PM right now im satisfied with the play of our young defensive tackles. and daughty is getting better every week redsk1 01-03-2008, 04:53 PM I do have a VA bias but heregoes my thoughts on Chris Long.... I would absolutely love to see Long as a redskin but Long is a top 5 pick and we're not going to be there. I want to give him props anyhow. I'm not even sure he got any sacks vs Texas Tech but did anyone watch the game? Double teamed, triple teamed...doesn't matter...he goes after it. Again i don't know the stats but the guy must have batted down 3 or 4 passes. Unbelievable motor and strength. He probably racked up 7-10 QB hurries. No one could block the guy. I think they threw the ball 55+times and he looked like he was better in the 2nd half. How about run defense you ask? Fills gaps like no other. A great tackler. I know this is a moot point but the guy is unbelievable to watch and is going to be a great nfl player imo. BTW...lots of great cb talent at VA Tech. Watch Flowers tonight..he's testing the waters and is projected in the 2nd round. Bud Foster sais he's the most talented CB he's every coached. Foster has coached alot of nfl cb's too including Deangelo Hall. Watch their LBs too...very talented. rotahe39 01-03-2008, 06:42 PM How about them Mountaineers baby....Pat White and Noel Devine tore up OU last night! freddyg12 01-03-2008, 06:55 PM I do have a VA bias but heregoes my thoughts on Chris Long.... He'll be a good one, but even if he drops he'll be gone by mid 1st round (I know he's a top 5 pick now). Another UVA guy we could get is that guard Albert (forgot his first name), he just declared for the draft. He's a junior but is 23 after spending a year in prep. 3rd team all american freddyg12 01-03-2008, 06:59 PM right now im satisfied with the play of our young defensive tackles. and daughty is getting better every week Doughty is playing well, maybe they'll stay put at safety. But DT is an area of long term need if nothing else. Golston is decent but isn't a steady starter yet & Griffin is old w/a history of injuries. I hope Griff can stay but they might cut him next year. SmootSmack 01-03-2008, 09:54 PM I'd just like to point out that the guy I've been clamoring for the past few months, Kansas DB Aqib Talib, just returned an INT 60 yards for a TD to give John Riggins' Jayhawks a 7-0 Orange Bowl lead. backrow 01-03-2008, 10:43 PM The Gator/Wolverine game produced a couple of fast guys and a couple of ahemmm beef-eaters and space-takers. But names escape me due to A G E! 724Skinsfan 01-03-2008, 11:15 PM I meant to post more about players in the games this past week but haven't been online as much. If anyone is watching my Hokies take on Kansas tonight, there are a no. of pro prospects. VT has 10 seniors that are likely to be drafted, plus a few underclassmen that might come out. Kansas has a top corner, Talib I think is his name. He is likely a 1st round pick. Kansas throws the ball a lot but I'm not sure if any of their wr's are big prospects. Players on VT we might be interested in are: Chris Ellis, DE - he was on Kiper's big board last I checked. A solid pass rusher, but only 260 lbs. or so. All 4 WR's - none of these guys is likely to go higher than 3rd round, but the guy I like is Josh Morgan, 6'1 ,220. Has great hands, size & YAC ability. Lacks deep speed. Both cb's - Flowers & Harris. Both are juniors, yet to declare. Xavier Adibi - OLB. He's a lot like Rocky in size and ability. Duane Brown - LT. Could go as high as 2nd round Both DT's - Booker & Powell. Neither will go high, would be good late round picks. Adibi is a great player with a great attitude. He and Vince Hall both should do well at the next level. freddyg12 01-04-2008, 09:57 AM I'd just like to point out that the guy I've been clamoring for the past few months, Kansas DB Aqib Talib, just returned an INT 60 yards for a TD to give John Riggins' Jayhawks a 7-0 Orange Bowl lead. Talib would be a nice pick, he can play man to man & can return punts (which I would like to see someone other than ARE do, let him stick to wr). He did get beat by Josh Morgan on a fly, but Morgan dropped a perfect pass. Even then, Talib got within a hair of the ball. I see him as the heir apparent to Shawn Springs (who I think will be here another year). |
