Just finished computing the nerdy stats, but I have some fun evidence that the weather has behaved similarly to our 5-win run in '05 during this current 3-win playoff run.
The fall of '05 and fall of '07 were both marked by developing La Nina conditions, though this '07 version has had a much stronger signal. La Ninas favor mild and relatively dry weather for the DC area during the winter season.
From 12/1 - 12/7/05, after the Skins had won the first of their five straight:
Temp. 7 degs below average, 1.4 in. of snow Dec. 5 and 1.5 in. Dec. 6
From 12/1 - 12/7/07, a day after the Skins beat the Bears:
Temp. 6 degs below average, 2.6 in. of snow Dec. 5
From 12/8/05 - 12/31/05, after Skins secure playoff berth:
Temp. 1.7 degs below average, weather getting milder
From 12/8/07 - 12/23/07, after Skins beat Vikes:
Temp. 3.7 degs above average, weather already mild and staying that way
January 2006: Skins win playoff game, temp. 8.1 degs above average with NINE 60-deg days
January 2007: Weather should continue mild, plenty of days 50-deg and above, WASHINGTON REDSKINS WIN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP!
