I say go for it if Tommy Harris is unavailable.
Risk or Reward Albert Haynesworth???Smooter 12-20-2007, 09:14 PM I say go for it if Tommy Harris is unavailable. That Guy 12-20-2007, 09:22 PM i don't think he'll be a great value (he might get inflated like dockery on a new deal), but he's been a dominant player this year, and the titan's D sucks without him. djnemo65 12-20-2007, 09:43 PM I think his performance this year has proved his value as a player and he will help whichever team he ends up with. But he is probably going to command something in the Dwight Freeney range and we can't and shouldn't try to afford that. Going into the second year of the new agreement I think the contracts should be ridiculous this year as well. SouperMeister 12-20-2007, 09:48 PM You've always got to be wary of the player who underperforms for the bulk of his career and then becomes a dominant force in his walk year. Even without that, Haynesworth will command way too much money and I don't see him getting out of Tennessee, even if that means a franchise tag, followed by acrimony, but eventually a deal getting done. Plus the Skins have too many other needs to throw that many dollars at a position where they do not have a glaring need. If you want to throw a ton of money at a guy then go throw dollars at Jared Allen (another guy who won't end up leaving his current team).Great observation. We signed Dana Stubblefield 10 years back after he was the NFL Defensive MVP with 15 sacks as a DT. He did squadoosh as a Redskin. RMSkins 12-21-2007, 12:41 AM Haynesworth is very tempting, but I think it would be best to continue to develop Montgomery, Golston, and not to forget we still have Griffin who I think can still be effective for a couple more seasons. EternalEnigma21 12-21-2007, 12:42 AM I dont like him. too many issues. Im gonna hold out hope that we trade up to take laron's teammate and draft dorsey FRPLG 12-21-2007, 01:01 AM Rumor is he'll get tagged. itvnetop 12-21-2007, 08:35 AM I dont like him. too many issues. Im gonna hold out hope that we trade up to take laron's teammate and draft dorsey dorsey's going to go too high for our pick. hopefully, we can grab a guy just as good at our pick... that's right- sedrick ellis! nah, he'll be gone top 10 too. freddyg12 12-21-2007, 09:02 AM I dont like him. too many issues. Im gonna hold out hope that we trade up to take laron's teammate and draft dorsey canthetuna, that's funny considering your name; you want to make a deal w/the tuna for the #1 pick is essentially what you're saying. As it stands now, Dorsey looks like the #1 pick in the draft. Tuna would love to trade down, problem is he'll want a few picks in return. BrudLee 12-21-2007, 09:12 AM Great observation. We signed Dana Stubblefield 10 years back after he was the NFL Defensive MVP with 15 sacks as a DT. He did squadoosh as a Redskin. Bonus points for "squadoosh". Haynesworth has played very well throughout his career. The spike in his numbers we're seeing have a lot to do with the fact that he was (rightly) suspended for so much of last year. As for his character, I'd say he showed a great deal of contrition for his actions last year, and has behaved since. I doubt he'll make it to the market, and I doubt we'd be able to afford his asking price if he did. |
