This thread piggy-backs or echoes the thread, "Proud of the team". But I want to specifically point out how this team is battle tested. Probably more so than all the other teams competing for the wild card. I don't have to chronicle the recent events, you know what they are. Nothing brings together a team like adversity. More than fighting for the playoffs right now, I get the feeling these guys are fighting for each other.
I believe the most recent blow to the Redskins, that being Rocky's season ending knee injury, will further galvanize this team. It's yet another call for another guy to step in and take care of business. To me, this is sort of giving the team an identity; something they've lacked all year long until recently. Once a team knows who they are, then they can become dangerous. Obviously, this is pure speculation on my part but I think this team is now to the point where they're collectively saying whatever happens happens. We'll line up our best eleven on Sunday and it's going to be hell for the other team.
I really expect the Redskins to bring some fire this Sunday vs. Vikings. Also consider that the Vikings are working on a short week this time, not the Redskins.
This hasn't been discussed much this year but the Skins have faced a brutal schedule, one of the toughest in the league. Couple that with the injuries and Taylor's death, and it's remarkable we're sitting at 7-7.

Yup, and we have 2 more playoff quality teams to go in the season. If we make the playoffs we might make some noise in them. I'll wait and talk about that if we win out and make it.
Finishing the season with three teams that are some of the best in the NFC and winning would be huge.;

They have. The Skins have the 5th toughest schedule to date.

hey bigskin, about a week or 2 ago, we were some of the only ones still drinking the kool aid. it feels good right now. i really hope the crappy eagles do us a favor, and beat New Orleans. that will really get the skins jacked up for Sunday night
After ST's death, it changed things for me. It seems to have developed into somewhat of a quiet confidence that they can, and will do this playoff thing. Yes, I believe......

That's a very good point about the schedule. I remember when the schedule first came out, my friends and i sat down and circled games that we should win based on how bad the teams were the previous season and we came to a general consensus that it was a soft schedule. However, in retrospect, it really has been one of the toughest. Our division may be the best in football (arguably next to the AFC South). Also think of how many close games that we should have won if it weren't for one mistake, one bad call, or one stroke of luck.
I do feel that if win out or not, playoffs or not, i am VERY proud of our team. It really is encouraging to know that they have beaten the best and faced serious adversity. I get the "Band of Brothers" kind of feel when i look at the saga that is this season. I mean, for Christ's sake, we have had to deal with actual death aside from the atypical barrage of injuries. I hope they know we are proud of them and I don't think there will be any complaining of underachievment this offseason. Just focusing towards doing what we know we are capable of next year and winning the division.

Mostly fair weather Pats fans where I hail from. Its difficult to explain the trials and tribulations of this season to them. 7-7 with 4 straight losses by one possesion and the Taylor tragedy is valient. Talk radio in these parts is something like " the nfc is bush league, the wildcard round is meaningless football..." Literally the dj's forgot when from September-March the only talk was about off season Red sox. I am damn proud of what this team has done.. We still are watching meaningfull games in December and again thats what its all about. If you watch everygame you know that this team can compete..and has done so in every game but one.
