The Pro Bowl selections will be announced this afternoon. My guess is Samuels, Taylor and Cooley will be on the list. Cooley will likely be announced as the first alternate, but will make it in by virtue of Shockey's injury. Near misses? Portis, Fletcher and Sellers.
Cooley should be named ahead of Shockey. He has clearly had the better season. If Shockey beats him out it's only further proof that the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest and not much more.
Shockey's numbers: 57 catches, 619 yards, 3 TD
Cooley's numbers: 60 catches, 711 yards, 7 TD
It would be nice to see an honorary mention of some kind for ST.

Yup, but it is what it is. Fortunately, Cooley's attendance at the Pro Bowl should elevate his status and even the playing field a bit for next year's Pro Bowl race.

Cooley should be mentioned ahead of Shockey for sure. I'll say this to, London Fletcher should be in there without question. I think he's fifth in the NFL in tackles, and he's come up with some very big interceptions this year.
Yeah Fletcher deserves the nod as well

Don't count Andre Carter out, he's got 10.5 sacks I believe, which is up there.
Not that pro bowl voters would put much weight on it, but he's also played much better v. the run this year too.

I could see AC getting an alternate nod. But you have both guys from the Giants, Trent Cole from the Eagles, umm....Aaron Kampan, who's a beast and a lock for the Pro Bowl. Patrick Kearney (Seattle)/ Just so many good DE this year.
