Based on the Salary Cap, you have to get what you can out of non star talent.

However I think Montgomery is on his way to being quite a nice find. MTK 12-17-2007, 11:52 AM We are still a team with one good DT - C. Griffen, and he is getting old. Not to be rude or sound negative, but I have never been impressed with either Golston or Montgomery. They are very inconsistent. They flash a good play here and there between a lot of mediocre play. Montgomery is a big body that lacks the aggressive strong play to push people backwards. Golston on the other hand does occasionally become a disruptive force, but he also gets handled. Both are inconsistent. We need another DT. I think we have bigger fish to fry. Overall the d-line has played well this season. freddyg12 12-17-2007, 11:58 AM If there's a DT the staff is really high on & he's available w/our first pick, I would think they'd take him. I think o & d line will be the priority in the draft & they'll take the best player regardless of position. Golston's name hasn't been called a lot, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been doing an adequate job of stuffing his man to make way for the LBs. He's never going to be a star or might not even be a long term starter. Campbell17 12-17-2007, 05:59 PM I didnt seem him last night, or recently. MTK 12-17-2007, 07:13 PM I spotted Golston a few times last night. 70Chip 12-17-2007, 07:42 PM Golston and Montgomery are both good players. Some fans seem to think that unless a D-Lineman has 15 sacks he isn't any good. Of course, some fans also think Fred Smoot is a liability, so either they're idiots or I am. I suppose either is possible. Perhaps a poll is in order. MTK 12-17-2007, 08:13 PM Golston and Montgomery are both good players. I suppose either is possible. Perhaps a poll is in order. An idiot poll perhaps? Now that would be interesting. SouperMeister 12-17-2007, 08:38 PM Golsten is a far less talented player than either Montgomery and Griffin. So being the third guy in the DT rotation has been about what we should have expected this season. I'm really impressed with Montgomery's progression - I just hope that Golten's work ethic and veteran influence continue to drive him to work hard. Big C 12-17-2007, 10:29 PM montgomery is a bigger body and has made better strides, golston is better for a rotation, he has a high motor which is his strength i feel |
