I know its early, but there are 3 very good corners on the market this upcoming season (Marcus Trufant, Asante Samuel, & D'angelo Hall)...Should we look to invest considering Spring is prob gone after this season?? More importantly, will we have enough to invest in one of these guys with our current cap situation

Trufant and Samuel are worth looking at but I would definitely pass on Hall. Too much of a headcase and he thinks he's much better than he really is.

I'm wondering ST's salary affect on the cap and if we would be eligible for cap relief due to him no longer being on the roster. I'd be interested to see how Denver and New England handled this with the League. Its sad to even think about this......

This has been discussed by Charlie Casserly among others and they have indicated that there is virtually no chance the Redskins will get any meaningful salary cap relief as a result of Taylor's passing.

I really like Trufant but at this point we have enough talent at CB compared to some other roster spots. We really need to address the offensive and defensive lines this year.

I disagree about having enough talent at CB. Plus, here's something that no one is really talking about yet: The NFL is a follow the leader league. There will be a lot of teams trying to copy the Pat's style next season, there will be alot of passing going on and we'll need to defend it. The only unit I feel confident in, heading into next season is our linebacking corps.

Right now, we're already 20 million over the 2008 salary cap. This will change once they convert some bonuses, but it should definitely keep us from being a player in this free agent class, unless Vinny Cerratto can work some salary cap magic...

I don't think it's such a lock that Springs is gone.

And if we do keep him, I still think we should draft a CB in the first round to groom into a starter in a year or two (Talib or Cason remain my favorites); though I keep hearing Derrick Harvey attached to the Redskins come draft time. Still early though.

If we do go the free agent route, I think we should keep any eye on Nnamdi Asomugha (sp?) from the Raiders. I think he can and will opt out. And he's the type of big, physical cornerback that Williams likes.

Asante Samuel battled with he Pats not to be franschised this year. He agreed to take the tag and the 7 mil under the stipulations that the team would not re-franchise him in 08 if he participated in 60 % of the snaps and the team won 10 games... The patriots will most likely lock him up long term

Are there any D-Line free agents in the market next year??

Asomugha -- if he opts out and we can get him, I would be THRILLED. A buddy of mine is a raiders fan, so I see some games. This kid is great. Big and Fast.
