owning a gun is a right in america.i can't understand why somebody that made the type of money that ST did and had a baby and a mate to protect chose to not pay a few grand for a home security system?we can all look back on the what ifs here, but none of that is gonna bring back sean taylor.

Well he used to have 4 pitbulls that he got rid of after the whole Vick fiasco because he didn't want people giving him a hard time about it

I didn't know that what a shame. Just another reason to not to like Vick.

The death penalty can be asked for in cases where a murder is commited during the course of a felony (ie breaking and entering, grand larceny, rape, etc). Therefore, the blights on humanity that were 18 or over could and should be executed.
The number of liberal pacifists who are against the death penalty always shrinks when someone they know and love is hurt.
It pisses me off even further that these bigoted assholes (Wilbon, Cowturd, etc) that blasted Sean for having a weapon the last time he faced dirt trying to take what was his now say it's his fault for dying. If the state of Florida hadn't told Sean that he couldn't carry a weapon to defend himself they wouldn't have to house these punks now.

For that matter, irresponsible people/children shouldn't be playing with a lot of things: guns, ovens, matches, gasoline, cars, ATVs, motorcycles, knives and probably a thousand other things.

No one is advocating that every breathing moron go arm himself to the teeth, and no one is saying we should add loaded handguns to a child's toybox.

I, for one, was taught from a very young age the four basic rules of firearm safety and they've stuck with me ever since.

Of course I also grew up in a stable household with rational parents...go figure.

That was exactly my point...

One of this great countries biggest problems is guns, but there is no way to fix this problem as long as the NRA remains such a dominant political force. The system that has evolved just plain sucks, but the Gun Lobby is just way too strong. Until a very powerful politician actually takes on the NRA head on nothing will ever change. Like I said before I'm not saying we shouldn't have the right to have guns, but there has to be limits and restrictions and the NRA basically lobbies against every gun law and restriction that anyone has ever come up with. Where is the middle ground? There is no middle ground with the gun lobby and that is a shame.

Yeah the gun leaped out of the idiot's hand and shot Taylor.
It's all the gun's fault! Stupid Steel!

In Wash DC near where I live guns are BANNED, ILLEGAL. So what kills folk? CRIMINALS WITH GUNS against unarmed yet LEGAL folks.

Sorry bro, Stupid ass people kill people with guns or whatever they fund.

A stupid Viginia boy said it best.
"Those who melt theit guns to farm tools will be ruled by those who don't." -Tom Jefferson

Are you telling me that gun made that stupid, illraised kid kick kill Sean Taylor or did that ass kick the door and shoot? Poor kid the republicans made him kill?

The number of liberal pacifists who are against the death penalty always shrinks when someone they know and love is hurt.

Liberalism and pacifism shouldn't even enter into it. I'm a believer in both, but I'm also a believer in efficiency, and as Sean Taylor himself proved, multiple second chances *IF* a person can be rehabilitated.

Unfortunately, this doesn't mean much because our "corrections" system isn't designed for rehabilitation, it's designed strictly for incarceration and for easy political grandstanding.

But, like I said, the other side is the efficiency question. I think life sentences are just stupid. If someone's never going to get out of jail, we need to ask the question: will this person produce something, *ANYTHING* over the course of his tenure in prison, that will even come close to matching the cost of his inprisonment?

If not, and if that person's appeals have been exhausted, I think you have to consider the idea of just speeding up nature's due process and saving the state a lot of resources...
