Schneed10 12-05-2007, 01:43 PM He hasn't gotten noticed because he was benched twice and they are awful.. I can't give any list that Joey Harrington is near the leaders in any credibility, sorry.
Paintrain, what is hard to understand here. This is not some sort of ranking of QBs. It's not to say that Joey Harrington is a top 5 QB in the league.
It simply says that Joey Harrington has taken care of the ball really well. It says NOTHING about his ability to make throws or move the ball.
The reason I'm posting it isn't to bring up a debate on where the QBs rank. I'm bringing it up because it shows that Campbell is turning the ball over a lot.
That by no means indicates he's a bad QB. It's just A PART of his game he needs to work on.
#56fanatic 12-05-2007, 03:12 PM Campbell crumbles under pressure.
that couldn't possibly be further from the truth. Go back and look at the Eagles game, 2nd week. the dallas game, giants game. the kid is very composed under pressure. I have no idea who you are watching. Composure is never the issue with him. accuracy maybe, composure, no way
memphisskin 12-05-2007, 03:16 PM I know that we come in here to vent, but in a season full of disappointments I thought Campbell was one of the few bright spots. Every young qb has growing pains, did we really expect Campbell to be Tom Brady this year? Does JC need to learn to tuck the ball away, yes. But the line also needs to do its job, they don't get a free pass in this. Yes, Campbell has a lot to learn, but he's learning and wasn't that what this year was about? I hear all the talk about his peers, but his peers don't play for us, JC does. And I see growth, I don't see his turnvoers as him developing any bad habits, I see a guy who is trying to do what he can to win games. And that, like everything else, is something that you learn to do. Plus, its not like he's getting much help, so for him to continue to keep plugging away shows the guts of a champion.

Good post, I think some people really need to learn the value of patience. When it comes to a first year starter, JC has done a great job and has really come a long way. When I hear comparisons to Romo I just cringe. Two totally different players and circumstances.
saden1 12-05-2007, 03:55 PM The honeymoon for JC will be over after this season. If he performs like he has this season next season I'm afraid it will be time to look at other options. Don't get me wrong, I have faith in him but he really needs to start winning games or else we'll have a Grossman on our hands.
dgack 12-05-2007, 05:40 PM David Garrard is in his SIXTH season. Six years and 30-some starts here and there under his belt, and he's playing lights out right now for the first time in his career. I think people need a little perspective here.
railcon56 12-05-2007, 06:37 PM Our line play was really bad last Sunday but has not been all that bad this year even with all of our injuries. He has lost several fumbles where the defender would not have had a sack and just was able to knock the ball loose. he has had several fumbles while running and added another last week. Our team is averaging 2.33 fumbles per game thats 28 for the year and loosing 1.25 per game. Thats if I did the math right.
28 fumbles divided by 12 games=2.33
15 lost fumbles divided by 12 games=1.25
As far as I'm concerned....Sunday was the worst i have seen the O-line play all season.... Campbell will be just fine..
djnemo65 12-05-2007, 07:52 PM Campbell is going to be great I believe. But seriously, the dude fumbles ALOT. I'm sure that is something that he and the coaches will solve in the offseason.
Schneed10 12-05-2007, 10:42 PM What Campbell really needs to avoid is taking the Patrick Ramsey career path. That is showing flashes of skill, showing that he has the arm to make all the throws, leading the team to victory here and there, but ultimately showing no progress over a three year period.
Ramsey, despite his flashes which tempted so many into thinking he could be a good one, never improved his feel for the rush, his deep ball accuracy, or his turnover rate.
As long as Campbell shows SOME improvement next year, then I'm good. He doesn't have to turn into Elway overnight. But I don't want to see a total lack of progress, a la Patrick Ramsey. That will throw up a red flag for me.
We need to be patient and see how he finishes this season and how he does next year. But by no means should he be anointed "the man" just yet. He still needs to pass the same level of scrutiny as any other QB.
