no way he belongs. not enough of an impact in his short time in the league
nfl should waive the 5 year waiting perioddmek25 12-03-2007, 06:43 PM no way he belongs. not enough of an impact in his short time in the league BrudLee 12-03-2007, 07:03 PM I loved Sean and am still grieving his loss, but... Slow down. Given time in this league, I have no doubt Taylor would be in the Hall of Fame. The same could be said for Bo Jackson, who was Adrian Peterson/Reggie Bush/LaDanian Tomlinson all stacked up into one badass. Who broke his hip. And stopped playing. And didn't impact the game for long enough to live up to his potential. Clemente is an argument for shortening the wait, but Clemente was definitely in, he had 3000 hits. Taylor was in his fourth year, and wouldn't have made the Pro Bowl in any of his first three years except for injuries (that's not to say he didn't deserve it, it just didn't happen). Riggo44 12-03-2007, 07:14 PM It's a nice thought but it isn't going to happen. S.T was a great safety. But he just didn't get to play long enough. Giantone 12-03-2007, 08:03 PM and induct sean taylor into the hall of fame.i know he only played almost 4 seasons, but if he would have kept playing i have no doubt he would have one day made it into the hall of fame.he's the best safety the skins have had since ken houston in the 1970s,and the best i have seen since ronnie lott came into the league.there is no telling what you all will say over this but there was a running back that was drafted by the cleveland browns in the 1960s that never played a down for them and died of leukemia and he's in the hall.surely sean taylor belongs there!!!!when i was a kid,and roberto clementie died mlb waived the waiting period and inducted him.i say the nfl needs to do it in this case........... Who and what proof of his induction? The Giants back in the 70's lost a player named Troy Archer(car accident)..........he was one great athlete but he's not in the Hall nor should he be.............it must be earned. Paintrain 12-03-2007, 09:19 PM Sean was a great player and will no doubt be missed but he simply didn't play long enough or accomplish enough to warrant Hall of Fame induction.. BleedBurgundy 12-03-2007, 09:44 PM Yeah, he didn't earn it yet. That's part of the tragedy... the fact that he won't get the chance. You can't just give it to him, it would be hollow and he wouldn't have wanted it that way. munny 12-03-2007, 11:56 PM I agree. The hall of fame is about production, not sentiment. Do you think a Sean Taylor should take the Spot of an Art Monk? No way. I loved #21, but there should not be short cuts and those 5 spots each year deserve to guys who played full careers. jrtmolar 12-04-2007, 12:19 AM I feel ya, I feel the same way about Don Mattingly. firstdown 12-04-2007, 10:40 AM Not in the NFL long enough and if we start thinking along these lines for the HOF what about Pat Tillman? MTK 12-04-2007, 10:42 AM Taylor could have easily played another 10 years. I have no doubt in my mind he was a sure fire Hall of Fame player in the making. But based on his current resume, no... he's not a Hall of Famer. |
