SmootSmack 12-02-2007, 04:24 PM Its been a sad week and for this to happen with all the fans counting on this team. All i can say is fucking pathetic.
You think you're more upset than the actual team. Unless you're a friend or relative of Sean Taylor, that's just stupid.
SC Skins Fan 12-02-2007, 04:25 PM You try playing under these circumstances. You had to know this could happen. You just can't understand the toll it takes on a person unless you've gone through it. If you didn't think this was a possibility then you aren't a thinking human being. They might not win again the rest of the year. I have trouble being too upset after this loss. Disappointed? Of course. Pissed off and ready to curse the team? Not a chance. Get a clue guys, come on.
redskinsskickazz 12-02-2007, 04:25 PM i have been giving joe the benefit of doubt on questionable calls for the last 4 years always saying to myself that hindsight is 20/20. but not knowing that rule is inexcusable. i have known about that rule since joes first tenure.
hurrykaine 12-02-2007, 04:25 PM Well that sucks. Gibbs isn't the only coach on that sideline though.
Please deduct 17 points from your coolness quotient for this. When the players cough up the ball, its the players fault, not Gibbs. When veterans commit dumb penalties, its their fault, not Gibbs. When Grilliams' deep cover 2can't stop the opposition from getting into FG range, its the D, not Gibbs. All within the realm of reason.
Just once, have the integrity to admit, that this is purely on Gibbs. We must hold him accountable for something. Head f...g Coach, damn it!
railcon56 12-02-2007, 04:26 PM Tough week for the Redskins, no question about it. I know I'll get beaten up for this, but they're still not mathematically out of it.
Oh I'm Upset ...but I am not giving up.... I am still going to the game thursday night...
SouperMeister 12-02-2007, 04:27 PM I guess we're back to "normal" now. All week long it was all "God, I love this team" "They have my support" "I feel so sorry for what they have to go through"
But now we're back to pissing all over them.
Look, I've said a few times this year this was a trap game because the Bills are undderrated and Edwards is a smart, up and coming QB. I didn't know Marshawn Lynch would be out for this game of course. But I also didn't know Sean Taylor would be dead.
This is what you're going to get from the Redskins. Unfortunately they have not been able to close out games/drives, and I'm sure someone will trot out that halftime lead stat for the 80 millionth time. They can compete with just about anyone in this league. But more often than not, they can't beat them. It's something that needs to improve, but it starts on the field. Not with the playcalling. Campbell has to be the man now, and know when to fucking throw the ball away. The O-Line (save Heyer) is chock to full of veterans. They've been in the league long enough to know they have to fucking protect their QB.Bottom line - the O-line lost this game. They were outfought from the first snap. At least Gibbs is taking his share of the blame for the 2nd timeout.
Rhaamses 12-02-2007, 04:27 PM That is gonna be a long plane ride to Miami. Their spirit is broken. I just heard Gibbs. He wasn't aware of the double TO rule. He took the heat for the call before Sonny even asked him. I think they will be inspired play hard on Thursday. I am usually critical of the team I root for. I have an understand of how a loss of a friend and coworker can impact your performance,
Daseal 12-02-2007, 04:29 PM can someone please explain to me exactly what gibbs did, i cant watch the game and from the looks of things on here im glad. all i caught was the ending kick but that was after the penalty.
What happened was Gibbs had the official right next to him, called a TO right before the kicker attempted a 51 yarder. They took the TO, commercial break, etc. Then the kicker lined up again, and the officials came running in. Joe Gibbs called two consecutive timeouts. Which everyone knows is a 15 yard penalty.

What I was referring to (since pointed out in that other thread about who called the time out) is that it may not have been Gibbs that called the timeout. It may have been another coach, a player perhaps.
Turns out it was Gibbs, and yes that's completely on him. But as I said before the game should have been wrapped up long before then.

I'm not pissed about how they played. I'm pissed about the poor defensive play calling with 56 seconds left on the clock and that stupid 2nd timeout. I don't blame the players at all. I think they played great with a few lapses for the most part. Playing zone with 56 seconds left and giving up HUGE yardage down field is GW's fault for those awful calls. God. :frusty:
