Eugene Robinson has hit the proverbial nail on the head. I wish I had read this a half-hour earlier because it would have saved me posting similar thoughts in another thread. Robinson deserves extra credit since the column was written before the apprehension of the suspects.

Robinson has been doing some of the most thoughtful writing on the subject of all the WaPo's writers. It's too bad guys like Wilbon are more interested getting TV time being controversial than in reporting responsibly the tragedy.

If anyone's interested, the Post's ombudsman has a piece up about the coverage of Sean's death. Shapiro sounds genuinely sorry, and Wilbon predictably sounds like he's trying to get more ratings:
