He wasnt great enough long enough and many other Skins that actually won super bowls and were great for many years deserve to have their numbers retired before he does. I cant support retiring someone's number on what they might have done.

Good luck with your petition.
I have to echo this sentiment. I realize this is a tragedy... but I would say Art Monk, Sonny, DG, Riggo and several others would be more deserving of that honor.

point is, not signing the petition is stating your opinion enough... trying to spark a debate about how you don't feel a man that has just passed stands up to your standards enough to be honored by the organization he represented is unnecessary.

There are unfortunately special circumstances here which should be considered when evaluating whether Taylor deserves to have his number retired. Also, for those that oppose the idea would you really be offended if he did have his number retired before Monk, Green, et al?

I would not be offended but I think it would diminish the honor of retiring a number for having had a great career.

ST might have had a great career but then again maybe not. Unfortunately we will never know.

I don't think anyone should squable right now... I don't think there is anyone out there that does not think this is a total tragedy...

There is more than one person who feels that ALOT of past skins deserve this honor. I think it is more appropriate that it be unofficially retired as they have done with alot of the greats of the past.

I disagree with just about everything Irish post but this is a Redskin chat site and he stated his opinion which other people hold. I'm not sure what they should do with his number at this point but if they did retire his jersey because of what happened I have no complaints. It not fair to jump on every person who does not agree with everyway people have posted to honor Sean Taylor.

I signed, normally I would be reluctant, but due to his potential impact on the team's legacy and his recent turn towards improving his off the field life, I felt honored to reccomend the retirement.
