Brian Mitchell's Take on Taylor's Death

This morning as I was trying to get ready for work, I actually happen to have a radio station rolling that was interviewing Brian Mitchell.

Between trying to brush my teeth, find a clean shirt to wear, crying and running into the next room to hear B. Mitch, this was the morning from hell.

Anyway, B. Mitch had some sound perspective on the situation. Basically, he echoed many of the same sentiments that we've been discussing all day. One of the first things he said was how tragic this is and how Taylor was just a phenomenal football player. Mitchell said he didn't have much personal interaction with Taylor himself, but by all accounts he was very nice young man. He never portrayed him as "getting his life together" or "moving in the right direction." Just a nice guy, you know.

He talked about the interview Taylor had with Kelli Johnson (local hottie) sometime ago. Mitchell said that Johnson was struck by his mild demeanor and at the end of the interview, Taylor actually thanked Johnson for taking the time to interviewing him. Mithchell said, "Now, here's a superstar thanking a reporting for interview him. What superstar nowadays actually thanks someone for interviewing them?" He said that's the type of guy Taylor was.

Mitchell went on to say, emphatically, that every single Redskins he's ever talked to on and off the record had nothing but high praise for Sean Taylor, and how he didn't understand nor agreed with the media's portrayal of him. Then he went into ripping Wilbon's ass. He never called him out by name, but he said he didn't understand some of the "local reporters" that are on national TV saying that they aren't suprised it happened to Taylor. His voice started to raise a little more as he went on....he said, none of these guys have ever been around or talked to Taylor and how they are under so much pressure to talk about the headlines and certain narratives at play, rather than the person himself. He talked about how his producer actually gave him and John Thompson as much leeway(sp) as possible for callers to vent and mourn. I think he extended his coverage of Taylor for an extra hour yesterday. So he understands how reporting can be skewed and journalist are under a different type pressure on a national level.

That's kind of it in nutshell, he did say some other things reletive to Wilbon's statements and how it kind of pissed him off a little. I don't think he has a beef with him, but he let it be known that some of these guys stepped over their bounderies big time.

Good for B'Mitch. Always telling it like it is! I bet if B'Mitch had been sleeping over on Sean Taylor's sofa Monday morning that low-life murderer would have gotten an ass whupin' like he'd never experienced!
