Asked how to prepare the team after this Gibbs said he doesnt know he has never been through anything like this.

Talks about Seans maturation while with the skins.

Talking about why Sean stayed at home, and didn't travel with the team.

Talks about how Sean missed a meetin last week because of the break in last week.

He sounds like hes about to cry, its upsetting.

Doesnt know anything bout his medical condition.

he knew how much his baby meant to him... how much he's matured...

He seems very emotional as we all are

I too think he has matured. He definitely doesn't seem like the somewhat brash ST of the past. He seems quieter, keeps a level head on his shoulders, works hard and stays out of trouble. Well deserving of praise for the strides he has made not only as a football player but as a man as well.

Which is why what Michael Wilbon said makes no sense to me. I hate how Wilbon thinks he's talking for "Black men" Wilbon doesn't know jack and I wish he'd stop lumping ST into the "Bad, angry Black men" category and just shut his mouth and stick to writing for the Post.

My father served in Vietnam in the 60s. He once saw a soldier get shot in the groin, ruptured his femoral artery (like Sean) and he bled to death in less than 1-2 minutes. My dad said blood was just shooting out of the poor guy in great spurts. There was nothing anyone could do to save him. It being wartime, the round was probably pretty high-caliber compared to whatever the would-be burglars were using, but if Sean got hit there, he probably bled out fairly quickly. Then how long did it take to get him to the hospital -- an hour, maybe 45 minutes? That's a long time for his brain to be without oxygen. This just doesn't look good to me but I hope I'm wrong. My thoughts and prayers are with Sean Taylor and his family. Life is short and tragic events happen quickly. Let's all be thankful for our own brief and fragile lives, and for those of our loved ones today.

We also don't know whether the artery was merely pierced or totally severed. If it was severed, it's unlikely that ST will recover. If it wasn't fully severed, who knows what will happen.

Gibbs is basically talking about how the team and the players reacted to the shooting, that he can't describe how everyone feels, that he has never been through anything like this, etc. I'll keep updating you. He hasn't said anything about Taylor's condition.

He said he doesn't know any current exact specifics of Taylor medically, but did confirm that Taylor's house was broken into back on the 18th. He also said he didn't know why Taylor was back in Miami this past weekend. So the team didn't know he was leaving town. Great. More shit for the media to jump on.

Good point. I'm hoping that's the case.

A reporter just made a good point about Gibbs seeking out advice from other coaches around the football world who have dealt w/ this kind of stuff.

I don't like that he keeps referring to Sean in the past tense.

One of the articles referred to in this thread said it was "severed"
Most articles say this unfortunately

Please, more updates. I'm at a library and can't use the media player.

Hang in there, Sean!

I feel so horrible today. Like when Reggie Lewis died (I still have his rookie card in my wallet to this day). I feel like this is worst becuse it dragged out but, there is (will be) a chance of a happy ending.

ST was my fav, after Lavar left. I use to think I felt like shit after a Redskin lost this is a whole new level of shitty. =(
