I just laughed and shook my head when I saw this thread title.
After the game I was thinking ok, outside of the decision to go for it on 4th and short there should be no major gripes with the coaching today. The turnovers are all on the players, and then bingo we have this thread. :doh:I agree - this loss is on the players. Even after not getting the 1st down, the D forced TB 3-and-out with a punt out of the end zone. The 1st half turnovers were just too much to overcome - coaches don't fumble and throw INTs.

A poorly coached team is not in the game until the very end when they have 6 turnovers...
The Skins gave the Bucs every opportunity to put the game away early, and the Skins defense bent, but did not break. Both sides of the ball stepped up in the 2nd half and played almost perfectly. The offense moved the ball with ease, while the defense geared up and put the kibosh on the Bucs. The coaches made the necessary adjustments at halftime, and the Skins came out a totally different team.
The Bucs defense are notorious for going for the strip, and were very successful in the 1st half yesterday. Campbell's fumble was caused by a breakdown of pass protection, as he did step up when he was getting rushed from the outside...Samuels got beat worse than a red-headed stepchild on whipping day.
The Bucs also have 2 Pro Bowl Corners who make big plays when called upon. Brian Kelly and Ronde Barber made plays when they needed them most, and made them on a young Quarterback.
I think the coaching staff had the Redskins prepared for yesterday. The players did not execute early, and it came back to bite them in the end. 4 turnovers in 5 possessions is completely uncalled for. You cannot blame the coaches for player execution for one game. Over the course of a season, you can blame coaches for not having players prepared. However, the 2nd half showed that this team was prepared, they just didn't execute in the 1st half.

With Campbell, I say coaching does come into play. Now that he's fumbled in several of the last games, someone needs to coach him up about holding onto the ball and feeling the pressure.
That comes with the territory of inexperience. I can tell you how to do something but you have to figure it out yourself practice pressure & game pressure are different.

Coaching had nothing - as in 0% - to do with any of the turnovers yesterday. They were entirely - as in 100% - execution error on the part(s) of the player(s).
In addition to the turnovers, there were more than a couple of dropped passes too. Before anyone gets any ideas, the coaches weren't responsible for those drops either...

Moss stretched out for extra yards and got the ball knocked out. I don't see how that is the coaches fault. Either you want our guys to stretch out for those extra yards and risk losing the ball, or you want them to play it safe and secure the ball with both hands at the expense of extra yards. Seems funny that the "we hate conservative play" crowd has the balls to attack the players for not being conservative and going for extra yards.
Jason Campbell lost a fumble when his arm was coming forward because Samuels didn't sustain a block. Yeah, JC should know better than to expose the ball when throwing the ball.
Jason Campbell threw two ill-advised passes and got picked. On one pick JC threw to Moss' outside shoulder instead of the inside shoulder. I'm not sure how JC's inaccuracy is Gibbs' fault. The other pick took place when JC underthrew Moss. So Gibbs et al are to blame for JC not putting enough mustard on the ball?
Portis' fumbles are simply inexcusable. But, it's not as though Portis has had a fumbling problem these past few years.
I heard Gibbs is also to blame for the Titanic going down, was in on 9/11, and masterminded Katrina. People can accuse me of drinking Kool-Aid for this post, but whatever. I've got to call out idiocy when I see it.
Well said. Play selection, that's coaching. Fumbles, that's on the field stuff.

How are fumbles a coaching issue???
Wow.
Yeah I fail to see what coaching technique exists to teach players how to hold on to the ball. I am sure if there there is one though that Old Man Gibbs surely doesn't know it since everything is his fault.
