Why they need a prototype receiver

It's just really hard for a small guy to get open when the field is shortened to 20 yards deep or so. The burner's biggest asset is speed, but that asset is negated when there isn't enough space to use it. At some point, size and leaping ability need to come into play, it helps the WR shield the defender from the ball with his body.

There's a big reason our WRs have so few TDs this year.

Moss being hurt makes more of a difference than his size. The problem with that throw was that Jason shouldn't have made it. The play was covered.

They play in a league that is basically read and react. Average guys who run precise routes can do well against the Cover 2 and its variation as long as the QB has time, and he is familiar with his receiver. Watching Thrash before he got hurt, led me to believe that he puts in practice time with JC. A big name guy is great, but the Stokely, Jarivous Deon Branch guys always come through.

hopefully this mix guy we picked up will be the future answer. campbell will push him hard over the off season.

That last pass is evidence of why this team need a wide out who is taller than 6 feet. If you have a prototype running the fade then the throw can be 8 feet in the air and Kelly can't touch it, instead you run the fade to Santana Moss and it's easy to pick because it has to be much lower. I'm not taking the owness off of Campbell, I don't know about making the throw, but if it were a big target, that's a totally different situation.
We just got one who is 6'5" 220+ and played with Campbell at Auburn. Why we didn't at least take a shot with him is beyond me. I don't want to hear the "he's not familiar with the playbook", or "he's not ready". The guy is a professional WR, he knows what the heck a fade is. It's worth a shot on 1st down with 30 seconds left in the game and the ball on the +16.

I think sometimes Saunders is so enamoured with his super-intelligent, 700 page playbook that he forgets to let players "make plays".

JC simply didn't need to make that throw, he forced the issue and had plenty of time on the clock.

I agree! Very disappointed in that decision on the 16 yard line and plenty of clock, ZERO sense to throw that pass in tight coverage. And lets not forget the drive prior to this what would have been the game winner, ended in the same result a INT, he HAS to be smarter than that!

Thats two weeks in a row where he had plenty of time, just made poor decisions, and tried to squeeze the ball. Inside the RED zone with the game on the line, he is having major brain farts.

I'm somewhat pleased with his progress to this point, but I would have at least thought he would have progressed a little futher and made some better decisions with the ball game on the line, in these last couple of weeks.
