Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you all had a good time enjoying the day with your loved ones.
Going back to last Sunday, it was a game that the Redskins let get away. Looking at the team overall, they played better than they have, I think, in any game up to this point in the season. Despite the loss, this is a game that can give this team a little hope. If they can continue to play like that, they have a chance to do some good things the rest of the season, so it was encouraging from that standpoint. At the same time, its the fourth loss of the season that they let get away, in my opinion. They had a chance with two minutes to go and seemed to rush a little bit down the stretch which was odd. Defensively, they had no answer to T.O., and the answer was sitting on the sidelines for Washington. If Sean Taylor plays, I think the Redskins win this football game. Dallas has many other weapons, but T.O. singlehandedly beat Washington, and I think it was because Sean Taylor didn't play. Sean Taylor is the most important player on the Redskins defense, period. Sean Taylor takes T.O. out of football games, dating back to his days with the Eagles and if you remember the game last year in Dallas, I'm pretty sure Taylor got a personal foul penalty for it, but he made his presence known to T.O. the first plays of the game. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Sean Taylor that broke Owens hand last season.
It is O.K. for us as fans to be "O.K." or content with a loss as opposed to some of the wins we've had this year. However, if the players start feeling this way, than thats a big problem. If they start feeling good about losing, they will crash and burn the rest of the year. I'm not saying that they can't take a lot of positives out of this game, but they can't be happy with losing a football game.
With Jason Campbell crying in the locker room after the game, thats O.K. by me. It shows how much he cares, and how much passion he puts into it. Too much in sports were talking about how we hate when guys don't play with passion, so I hope I don't hear anyone getting on Jason for this.
Now in regards to his play, I think we can expect to see more of the no huddle from Jason. Jason is calling his own plays when he runs that, so it's interesting how things change because he calls the plays that he feels comfortable with, and I think that his play shows his comfort level with that, and I would expect to see much more of it in the future.
To beat Tampa Bay, we need to get a better pass rush (I feel like I say this every week since 2005), because Garcia can and will pick us apart if we do not get pressure on him on Sunday. Teams can run the ball against the Buc's and I think we need to try to establish the same, but learn from how well we've done things the past few weeks as well and don't put the clamps back down on Jason. Defensively, force them to throw the football and stop the run. Looking at the rest of the year for Washington, they still have a chance to make a run into the playoffs, but it needs to start now. The NFC is not a very good conference, and if they can win this week and get a couple of wins these next couple weeks, they will be right back in position.
Thanks Guys! Enjoy the Holiday!
