Calvin Johnson a bust?

I think he'll be good. But I was definitely one of the ones who wanted Johnson if he was there. In fact, I remember going back forth with Dmek prior to draft day.

Anyway, looks like the Skins made the right pick with Laron Landry; really pleased with him. From what I saw yesterday, Johnson isn't running good pass routes. He and Kitna have a lot of work to do in the offseason.

I agree, he looked somewhat rusty yesterday. I know he has been hurt earlier in the season, but that was way earlier. Either is ankle is still hurting him or he just needs a lot of work.

I really think that the NFL has been the hardest to adjust to than any other first rounder than Johnson, he used to just have to run a post route to the endzone and stand there, now he can't do that and he actually has to run routes and play against people who can actually match up to him physically.

I agree that he's had hardest time adjusting, but I don't totally buy that it takes time for WR to adjust to the NFL. Marcus Colston had an excellent season in his rookie year. And there are a few around the league this year that are holding their own.

I think in the NFL, no matter what the position, you get out of it what you put into it. Plain and simple.

Not a bust. Although next year his numbers need to at least double.

If it doesn't happen for him in Detroit, I'd love to see him get a shot here. I'm sure Campbell would find a way to get him the ball, especially in the red zone.

I agree with you about Colston, but look at Dwayne Bowe (Chiefs) and James Jones (Green Bay) are WR that have been more productive than CJ this year, and there are a few others on his tail.

Also, we are talking about a guy that was taken number two in the entire draft - number two! So when people are talking about bust, I think they are saying that in context. Yes, he may be good but was he "number two" good?

umm, did alot of you forget Roy Williams is the man there and furrey with mcdonald just take away even more for CJ to take off yet. he also has a back injury thats been lingering since week 4 i believe. By keeping furrey and signing mcdonald and not trading Roy... it says to me that they didnt expect CJ to be an elite force as of yet. And last, kitna barely has time with their o-line mixed in with martz's system. so alot of you are just typing football ignorance.

He has done a decent job for a rookie and is not a bust. He had a few drops against the Packers, but made plenty of catches and took a hell of a beating in making up for his first half miscues. He will be a solid WR in a couple seasons. Everyone nowadays expects a 1st round rookie to be a megastar right away, but that is totally buying into the hype and is unrealistic.

CJ is a good guy too with a strong work ethic. I think a lot of the time these receivers come into the league with an attitude and then don't put the work in needed to elevate their game. With CJ that won't be the case.

Too early to tell about Johnson. I saw him make some great catches on Thanksgiving . . . the guy's got talent. Plus, it usually takes 2-3 years before a receiver gets used to the NFL's tighter coverages. RBs, for some reason, are able to make impacts as rookies. It's rare for a rookie receiver to do that.
