Not worth the 2nd pick. It's been awhile to say the least since a receiver has justified being taken 2nd overall.
Calvin Johnson a bust?GTripp0012 11-22-2007, 09:14 PM Not worth the 2nd pick. KLHJ2 11-22-2007, 11:47 PM I was never sold on Johnson. I even got into trouble about my sig regarding Johnson before the draft. I love it when I turn out to be right. I do think that Detroit was a good spot for him to land. He is going to have the best opportunity to be successful there. However, as far as this season is concerned he is pretty much the non factor that I suspected he would be. dall-assblows 11-23-2007, 12:07 AM this is rediculous. it always takes WR a little longer to become great. he will be dominate in 2 years. a T.O. -randy moss type reciever. htownskinfan 11-23-2007, 12:22 AM this is rediculous. it always takes WR a little longer to become great. he will be dominate in 2 years. a T.O. -randy moss type reciever. theres some grammar cops on here that will let u have it for your spelling of ridiculous, lol but i agree, most are not impact players their first yr but theyre are always exceptions,Andre Johnson of the Texans stands out to me since I'm in houston, but i dont know what his first yr stats are htownskinfan 11-23-2007, 12:28 AM I looked up his stats 2005 Houston 63 rec for 688 yrds, not real impressive unless you consider it was david carr passing to him!l lol plus with his off line he never had time to pass jsarno 11-23-2007, 12:33 AM No, Roy Williams is playing pretty good, Shaun McDonald has stepped up pretty big, and Mike Furrey is getting balls thrown to him. The Lions are spreading the ball and for a rookie 402 yards thus far isn't bad and there are 5 more games to go. Not every rookie WR can step up and ball. If Johnson ends up with 700 yards and 5 TDs that's a pretty good first season if you ask me. In their first seasons: Jerry Rice - 927 yards and 3 TDs. TO - 520 yards and 3 TDs. Marvin Harrison - 836 yards and 8 TDs. Reggie Wyne - 345 yards and 0 TDs. ...and so on, and so on. You won't find too many WR who tore it up in their first season in the NFL (Randy Moss seems to be the lone exception I can recall). If Johnson works hard in the upcoming off-season he is going to destroy DBs (ala jump ball football). WHile you make a good point, has any of those players been hyped like Johnson? In fact, has ANY WR been hyped like Johnson ever? jsarno 11-23-2007, 12:35 AM LOL, Jsarno you crack me up. I love your shtick. Thank you! :D htownskinfan 11-23-2007, 12:49 AM WHile you make a good point, has any of those players been hyped like Johnson? In fact, has ANY WR been hyped like Johnson ever? yeah, brandon lloyd when we signed him!!:smashfrea  The Zimmermans 11-23-2007, 12:59 AM Calvin is gonna be good, he seems a little slow, and it will take a while for him to click with the QB in a timing passing offense like the lions have. At Gtech they just chucked the ball down the sideline to him....he will get good if he stays healthy. This is silly to call someone a bust in their 10th game as a pro, or probably less than that due to injury. |
