12thMan 11-20-2007, 01:24 PM This guy is a gem. Say what you will about Gibbs' coaching record this time around, but if he delivers us the franchise QB that we haven't had in decades, everyone should be kissing Gibbs' ass.
This is a QB-centric league and it is extremely difficult to be a great team without a great quarterback. There are teams like the Ravens and the Bucs that have historically had success without solid QBs under center, but they are the exception to the rule. It should come as no surprise that we've had trouble fielding a great team in the past decade or so given that we have been relying on guys like Tony Banks and Shane Matthews to lead our offenses. If JC turns out to be the kind of QB we have all been looking for, this franchise is set up for a good run and many self-proclaimed experts will attribute our success to better coaching, better moves by the front office, better play by the players at skill positions, etc. when in reality our success will come down to having a guy under center who can make plays.
You bring up a good point. I have a good feeling (sorry Schneed) that people will give Gibbs more credit for revitalizing the franchise after he leaves than while he was here.
It's funny no one is saying we gave up too much for Campbell now. But didn't we give up two picks and not three? Why do I keep hearing three picks? I'm confused.
But you can sorta see some of the pieces fall into place.
Chief X_Phackter 11-20-2007, 01:27 PM I think its pretty gay truthfully. If he's that upset I think he should try waiting untill he's alone to cry.
Maybe if this was the superbowl or a really big playoff game, but it was just a away game vs. our arch rival that we had a decent shot at winning.
I dont think having the most involved player on the team crying in front of everyone else insprisers everyone to play harder. I personally would take offense to it if he were my QB....
Dude get a grip!
It's pure passion Dude. Some people wear their emotions on their sleeve. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. I'd rather he be crying in the locker room than joking around and laughing after a loss like that. You see more of that from these professional athletes than anything else.
mlmpetert 11-20-2007, 01:27 PM Gibbs has an unbelievable ability to judge QBs, even when most of the football population can not. He took a huge risk in sending Ramsey to the way side because he obviously thought he can do better. The early returns show that he was correct.
There are only a few things that seperate a historically great coach from a run-of-the-mill good guy, but Gibbs has that in spades.
I disagree. All the qb's Gibbs has every really had have been run of the mill servicable qb's. He has however been able to get all of them to play very well at times.

Whatever man, This was JC's biggest game thus far in his career. He knows how much Dallas games mean to us, and fought incredibly hard to deliver. The kid has a lot on his shoulders right now, and as long as he remains cool and collected on the field, then what does it matter if he gets a little emotional afterwards. To be honest I wanted to cry after the game, and I EXPECT my QB to have AT LEAST as much emotion as I do, I think it is endearing, humbling, and it will give his team reason to fight even harder for him.

I knew there would be at least one moron out there.
Thanks for proving me right!

He has however been able to get all of them to play very well at times.Even back in the day when coaches had a bigger role in player development than they do now, so QBs had to be evaluated differently, doesn't Gibbs get the credit for picking out the right guys for his system?
Nowadays, I don't believe system QB's exist, but back in the day I feel there were some pretty good examples, and Gibbs pushed all the right buttons and found guys cheap that could do the job for him (Schroeder, Williams, Rypien, etc.)

A little homophobic are we?
First crying is gay and now I'm a fag?

Actually, Campbell doesn't wear his feelings on his sleeve at all. He's pretty even keel, which makes this even more eye opening.
I do think he was kidding though.

Trading up for Campbell will be the greatest legacy of Gibbs 2.0.
