With Wade knicked again at RT with a sprained knee, I believe at the gibbs presser its a grade 1 so he certainly might be able to go Sunday.
But Heyer sure has stepped up as a young rookie and played all over the place. IMO we didn't appear to miss a beat on the right side yesterday with Heyer in the lineup.
This kids youth and good ball playing could very well be our future starting RT.
Thoughts on Heyer vs. Wade?

Stephon is a really exciting prospect considering the age of our O-line and lack of depth. I don't know much about the technique and what not of O-linemen, but every indication is that this kid is turning out to be quite the diamond in the rough. Well, that may be overstating it, but he will certainly be valuable depth for the next couple years, and if he keeps progressing I think you're absolutely right that he could be a future starter on our O-line, and perhaps a very good one.

I don't understand why people say we dint have depth on the offensive line, we lost our whole right side and we still have offensive line like Heyer that can go in. The problem is that every game we have a bunch of players going down and that is the why we are 5-5. To many injuries for any team to deal with.

Yeah you're right. Going into the season I was worried about the depth of the O-line, and what a couple of injuries would do, but noone ever expected the amount of injuries sustained by the O-line, and now after a little bit of time together they are starting to look better (meaning just a little below-average, which is as much as you can expect from a patchwork line). They really have surprised me the past 3 weeks.
That said, I think it is still fairly obvious that we need some young depth on the line to replace our old guys in the next few years, and hopefully next year with Heyer and a few key young additions to our depth, we wont even skip a beat in the event of an injury to a key guy.

As an undrafted FA rookie, Heyer is literally getting better every day. He filled in nicely for Wade, and I'll think he'll be fine as a stop gap for a game or so. My worry is that our current starters on the line have gelled quite well over the last few games, and I don't want anything else (short of Randy Thomas' return) messing with their chemistry. But if Heyer has to start I won't be worried.

Nice post. The line has started to gell pretty nice with wade the last few weeks.
However, I really like this heyer young man. He has filled in very nice pretty much any where he's been used. I think he has a very strong upside, and will be a Redskin for many years.

The Skins could certainly do worse than Stephon Heyer as a backup...he's a good stop gap while Wade recovers from injury. I think he'll be a good backup for a few years until he's ready to take over for Jansen or Samuels...if he's around that long.

Not a huge loss of Wade is not able to go against the Bucs. From what I could tell Heyer played very well against the Cowboys, and he looks very promising for an undrafted rookie free agent.
