Not to add insult to injury on the loss to Dallas yesterday. The most ironic part of the game was not that T.O. cranked out 4 TD's and 173 yards.
But with the Redskins defense allowing Owens to acheive 173 receiving yards, Owens passed Art Monk (12,721) and moved into 11th place on the league’s All-Time Receiving Yards list.
The irony is that he did it against Monk's former team with Monk's former coach on the sidelines watching.

The fact that TO passed Monk against Monk's old team is indeed noteable, and is certainly a coincidence. But at the risk of being labeled a nitpicker here, TO passing Monk against Monk's old team is NOT ironic.

The irony of this is now TO thinks he can go over the middle against us and next time we play ST will show him why he can't.

I think he is saying the achievement is noteable. However it is more of a coincidence than it is ironic.
Shit, I'm not sure what I just said.

Well, like I said, I'm running the risk of being labeled a nitpicker, and it might be unfair to do it to our resident Cowboy fan, sandtrapjack, who was indeed very gracious in victory yesterday. I'm simply targeting the use of the word "irony" to describe TO passing Monk on the all-time list against the Redskins. The word is unfortunately misused more that it's properly used, and I was saying that the TO-Monk thing is better described as a coincidence than being ironic.

Okay for those that want to nit-pick on the words Irony and Coincedence I will repost the same fact:
"Not to add insult to injury on the loss to Dallas yesterday. The most coincedental part of the game was not that T.O. cranked out 4 TD's and 173 yards.
But with the Redskins defense allowing Owens to acheive 173 receiving yards, Owens passed Art Monk (12,721) and moved into 11th place on the league’s All-Time Receiving Yards list.
The strange coincedence is that he did it against Monk's former team with Monk's former coach on the sidelines watching."
There....everybody happy now? Did that actually change anything?
