GhettoDogAllStars 11-19-2007, 01:42 PM For some reason NFL.com has yet to update to include yesterday's games, that might account for the discrepancy (though Eli's 96.53 completion rate is clearly a typo).
Ah, I see. That makes sense.
As for fan voting, am I correct in understanding that the combined fan votes account for 1 single vote? For example, if 1 million people vote Romo for Pro-bowl QB, doesn't that just count as 1 vote for him? Then, all the other votes come from players/coaches?
If that's the case, then it's really not as much of a fan-based popularity contest as most would like to believe. However, it can become a player-based popularity contest where future HOFs get in on a mediocre year because of the respect they have around the league.
skinsfan69 11-19-2007, 02:17 PM Kitna is bad. No two ways about it.
You have to put Garcia in over him. You just have to.
Back to the thread topic, Garcia is MILES above Campbell and Manning. Campbell and Manning are both pretty young, and a very good comparison.
And in my opinion, its Campbell who is having the better season.
You think Garcia is MILES above JC and Manning? Really????
No disrespect to Mr. Garcia. He has made a huge difference for TB. No question you can win with him if he is in the west coast offense. But he is not a top flight NFL QB. He can't take over a game. He can't put a team on his back and carry the team. That type of QB would be MILES above Manning and JC. I don't put him in that class.
skinsfan69 11-19-2007, 02:22 PM I dont care if Eli throws for 700 yds a game. I wouldnt vote for that spoiled, constant DUH look on the face son of a bitch. Its an honor to be drafted in the NFL and the chargers wasnt good enough for him or the manning clan. Im sure this has been beat to death in threads past, but the thoughts of Eli getting any recognition or praise disgusts me.
I think Eli and his pop were worrried about SD's ability to sign him. I think they were worried about SD's front office and the ownership.
John Elway did the same thing. But it was for different reasons. He didn't want to play for the coach in Balt. I forgot his name but he was a real hard ass. He was famous for grabbing guys by the facemasks.
calia 11-19-2007, 02:33 PM As much as I love JC (he plays with a lot of heart), I believe yesterday was his first game ever over 300 yards. That's just not pro bowl material ... yet.

7 and a half yards per attempt while completing 64% with 3 interceptions in 278 attempts is pretty much the definition of taking over the game...every game.
I don't deny that this could be Garcia's last season at the top of the game, but he's got Tampa poised to take their division despite a similar effort on defense from a 4-12 team last year, and his running back going out for the season over a month ago. He's doing even better this season than Favre is, IMO.

While TB is better this year, 6-4 is not 8-2 or 9-1. Plus they get to play Atl. a couple of times. As I said he is good. I've always liked Garcia's game. He knows how to play the position as long as he is in the west coast system. He is an upgrade over Sims. But to say he is miles above Eli and JC is a going a little far. Don't you think? I would not put Garcia as a top 5 NFL QB.
I don't know how TB's defense has been playing. But I would guess that they are playing much better then last year.

This year alone I probably would. Brady, Manning, Garrard, Romo, and Garcia.
Roethlisberger can't have games like this past one to be on that list.
Miles above JC and Eli is all about where those guys are at this point this season. Being fair to Campbell with the lack of help he's gotten, we can say he's been an above average player. Same for Manning.
Garcia has been a great player thus far this season, and there's definately at least a tier of QBs in this league that are clearly better than Campbell or Eli Manning, but still couldn't be in the same class as 2007 Garcia.
Palmer, Roethlisberger, Brees, Cutler, Hasselbeck, Schaub, and McNabb.
All of those guys are pretty significantly better than Campbell at this point in his development, but I wouldn't try to compare any of their years to Garcia.
So although "miles ahead" is a subjective point, I would definitely take Garcia's year to Eli Manning's 100/100 times.

He put Philly on his back last year and carried them into the playoffs.

I understand what you are saying but I did not have a problem with what he did. He told the Chargers up front that he did not want to play for them but they chose him anyways to trade him off. Whats wrong for not wanting to play for a team. I think its funny when all these guys get drafted and talk about how excited and proud to be a part of this or that team. So no one else ever gets drafted to a team they do not like? Yes they just don't have the guts to say how they really feel. You don't like that DUH look he has going.

Yes he did. No question. I just don't happen to think he's top 5.
