Rather than posting another Top 10 style power poll I thought I'd switch it up this week and go with my top 5 of the league, and my bottom 5. Here goes:

First the bottom 5, since we all seem to love the negativity around here.

5) Rams - One of the biggest disappointments of the season so far. But in their defense injuries ruined their season before they could even get started. With Bulger and Jackson looking healthier than they have all year they could play the spoiler role down the stretch.

4) 49ers - Remember all the preseason hype about these guys? Looks like all that free agent spending hasn't done them much good because right now they are pathetic. Alex Smith is young and still has time to get on track, but right now he's looking like a bust.

3) Raiders - Just put in Russell already.

2) Jets - I think the Jets are the perfect example of how fine the line is in the NFL between winning and losing. Not a horrible team, but they just seem to find ways to lose each week.

1) Dolphins - How funny would it be if they had another "perfect season"? The John Beck era has begun. Don't look for that first win anytime soon though with the Eagles and Steelers coming up.

And now the Top 5:

5) Packers - Favre just keeps working his magic. If they can keep the running game going they will be a true threat to Dallas in the NFC.

4) Steelers - They managed to escape with a win last week, perhaps they got caught looking ahead to their next 3 cupcake games against the Jets, Dolphins and Bengals. Say hello to 10-2.

3) Colts - It took 6 picks by Manning and an easy chipshot miss by Vinatieri to give the Chargers the win. Indy will get back on track this week against an offensively challenged KC team.

2) Cowboys - Ugh.

1) Patriots - Their only real threat right now to going 16-0 is the Steelers and maybe the Giants. If the Patriots get by the Steelers it will be interesting to see if they play for the win in week 17 in what will be an otherwise meaningless game for them.

That's pretty legit. I don't think anyone can argue with any of in either direction. Before it's all said and done, JAX or Cleveland could end up bumping the Packers out of that fifth position.

I agree with all 10 teams, my only change would be in your top 5. I'd have the Steelers at 3 and the Colts at 4. Indy has lost 2 in a row and is ravaged by injuries.

Good job Matty, but I see it a little differently.

1) New England Patties
2) Indianapolis Dolts
3) Pittsburgh Stealers
4) Dallas Cowgirls
5) "The Grass Is Always Greener" Bay Pack
...
27) New York's "Other Team" Jets
28) Oakland Convicts
29) St Louis Lambs
30) San Francisco Gay Niners
31) Miami Dead-Fins

Maybe Dallas might be #2 but we are going to knock that down a few levels this weekend.

In my opinion, San Francisco has to be the worst team. Those two victories are just so far in the rear view mirror, and they didn't even play very well in those games. Since then, they've played a pretty soft schedule...and have looked downright terrible.

The Raiders have played like crap, but as I outlined before, they are really about 3 players on each side of the ball from being a pretty good team. That's more than I can say for the Niners, or the Dolphins, or the Rams.

We have some historically good teams in the NFL this year, and something I read made a very good point. If it wasn't for the historic pace of the Pats and the Colts, we'd be hearing about how the Steelers and the Cowboys are the two greatest teams the NFL has seen in a long time. There are 4 teams in the NFL this year who all would have won the super bowl the last two seasons.

At least SF has two wins on their record even if they were a long time ago.

StL, Jets and Miami are still looking up at two wins...

Oh if they do go 15-0, you can count on them playing really hard in that 16th game to go undefeated. I am willing to bet the house on it. Bellichick is pissed off that he got caught and is trying to show the league what he can do. Almost trying to say: "I could win without the tapes, they just used to make my job a little easier."
