Well it would be easy to say Favre, and I think a strong argument could be made, but I am inclined to say Roethlisberger, and not just because of his age.

He is a guy many, myself included, wrote off after he followed his abysmal superbowl performance with an even worse 06 season. I figured him to be a product of a great line, strong running game, and world class defense - certainly not a franchise player.

However, his growth this season has been remarkable. His rating of 110.2 is second to only Brady amongst active starters. His accuracy, particularily throwing the deep ball, is tremendous. Moreover, he has shown a poise and leadership in recent weeks that has been, as Ward alluded to this week, Elway-esque. Finally, his size changes the way defenses must react to him since he his so hard to bring down (plus he's deceptively quick, and he's as good as anyone in the league at knowing when to use his feet).

Who do you guys think is the third best qb in the league right now?

Brady is far and away #1. But, I'd put Big Ben, Lord Favre and Jordan's big brother in 2-4.

Well Roethlisberger was nearly dead prior to last season so I'll cut him some slack for 2006. He has been remarkable this year, no question. He's probably #3 right now

Either him or Vince Young :)

Aren't you forgetting a certain defending champ?

Roethlisberger and Romo are close.

Roethlisberger and Romo are close.

Give JC better wide receivers like T.O. and coaches who trust him and he'll probably look better than he looks now.

Roethlisberger has lifted his game this season. The Steelers new approach under Tomlin is more a stretch the field first to set up the run than in prior years. Big Ben has orchestrated it to perfection.

I'm still taking Carson Palmer.

His team is struggling this year, but Palmer is the only guy I can think of outside of Brady and Manning who has played at an elite level each of the past three years.
