Who Needs Enemies? That's what I want to know. I don't post much but I read daily, as well as during every game. Thank God for free speech and all but personally I get sick of reading "There Goes the Season" after every fumble and "...Needs to step down" after every loss.
I commented on this in the game thread Sunday and someone said that is what fans do.
I have been around since George Allen an the over the hill gang and have been a fan the whole time. When the games aren't televised in my area I watch the stupid lines on NFL.com I don't miss a game and I love the skins. traveling big distances to take my son to two games this year Cardinals at home (10/21) and Giants in NY (12/16) I consider myself a diehard fan.
That being said...I no nothing about how to coach an NFL team and even less about playing at that level. Its easy to second guess and lay blame but none of us are on the payroll...becuase we are not quailfied....
I am just saying they need our support not what goes on much of the time on many of these threads.
my 2 cents
Skinsfan1967 11-13-2007, 09:12 PM Thank you for starting a thread that does not bash the team. I agree completely with your observations.
skinsguy 11-13-2007, 09:22 PM Of course the negatively nellys of the board will say, "so we can't be free to speak our opinions and blah blah blah....we're just being realists!!"
The hater aids don't like their fandom being questioned, but I agree with you 100%. Trust me, if the Redskins start getting on a winning streak, you'll see the haters drop off the board like crazy. Heck, it happens everytime we win a game. You'll especially see it if we beat the Cowboys this weekend. They thrive on bashing the team and would rather care about being right in order to prove a point, rather than to be pleasantly surprised. It's almost a compulsive obession with being miserable I guess.
SFREDSKIN 11-13-2007, 09:32 PM Is nice to know there is another old man like myself on the board, that supports his team thru thick and thin and stays on the bandwagon whether winning or losing. That's what a "real" fan is like. Welcome!!

Like I stated in another thread, most of us older 'skins fans (I might not be as old as some of you guys, but I witnessed the glory years,) we still see this team as the team that was the elite championship team of the 80's. We just feel that the Redskins have to go through this period of losing in order to accomplish those great things again. Even if it doesn't happen with Gibbs, it will happen!

Is like that saying "history repeats itself". I've enjoyed the George Allen days, especially the Dallas rivalry (nothing compares) been thru the losing Pardee years to the best years (Gibbs) back to the losing with Petitbone,Norv, spurrier, Marty, I won't count Gibbs II because he's not done yet.
paulskinsfan 11-13-2007, 11:00 PM Ok, Im not picking a fight here, Im truly curious about the mentality of each of you who have posted above. In your opinion, can a "fan" ever post on this site and criticize the Redskins coaches, players and/or organization? Because Im getting a real Ned Flanders vibe from you guys. Oklely Doakley?

I don't think anyone on this site thinks we are a great team and I think that people have problems with the players, coaching staff, front office, etc. I think, however, there are a lot of people who are tired of hearing overblown statements about how awful we are, that the coaches are a joke, etc. All I ask for is a little balance, perspective, and thoughtfulness.

You're getting a Ned Flanders vibe here? Don't you realize that you're not supposed to complain in the face of 15 years of lousy football? Nobody is to blame! All is good!

I would agree, a little balance is good. The problem is, if I started a "I hate the Kool Aid Drinkers" thread, it would last as long as a Chuck Woolery break: 2 minutes, and 2 seconds. It would then be locked, and I could be taking a vacation.
