People put too much into where teams stand in the playoff race. Win 10 games and then you will be in the playoffs. There are very few teams that don't make the playoffs with 10 wins. That means a 5-2 finish...and honestly it doesn't matter which 5 you win. It's when your trying to get in with 9 or 8 wins that tie breakers are vital.

It is still early to predict the playoffs, but I will give you a view of what is going on right now in the NFC. To make it more clearly:
The Redskins are in 7th place in the NFC, and they are not currently in a wildcard spot right now.
1) Dallas Cowboys - Record: 8-1 Division: 3-0
2) Greenbay Packers - Record: 8-1 Division: 2-1
3) Seattle Seahawks - Record: 5-4 Division: 3-1
4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Record: 5-4 Division: 2-0
5) Detroit Lions - Record: 6-3 Division: 2-0
6) New York Giants - Record: 6-3 Division: 2-2
7) Washington Redskins - Record: 5-4 Division: 1-2
8) Arizona Cardinals - Record: 4-5 Division: 2-1
9) Carolina Panthers - Record: 4-5 Division: 2-2
10) New Orleans Saints - Record: 4-5 Division: 1-2
Those are the top 10 contenders in the Playoff Race. Only 6 teams make the playoffs (including wildcards). The Redskins are in 7th place because of their divisional game losses. If the Redskins want to remain a contender, they will need to win the remainder of their in division games including Dallas Cowboys this weekend.
They could lose to Dallas once and NY and still be 10-6...you honestly thing 10-6 does not get a wild card in this awful NFC?

Nice to see your cup is half empty. :pffff:
These are the kinds of posts that get on my nerves. I have been optimistic all season in all of my posts, because I really think we stack up well, I point out that we are third in the wildcard race and I get accused of being a pessimist. You didn't even bother to read the rest of this post. Buster, please review the NFL playoff structure.

I like how people mistake being pessimistic with being a realist. They don't go hand in hand. A realist looks at this from all points of view. We could get blown out this week. Then again, we might be taken too lightly and do the unthinkable to Dallas. The Redskins team is good enough to beat Dallas. The Redskins team was/is good enough to beat any team we have played this year, with the exception of New England.
We're not that bad of a team. The injuries have hurt us, but I say we've done good to be at 5-4 despite the injuries. The Redskins-Cowboys rivalry can never be predicted.

I have purposely have been staying away from this site all week cause the negativity has been too much for me. I'm just not ready to give up until it's actually over. Even if that means I sit in a corner with my fingers in my ears saying "la, la, la, la, la".
I am not the type to predict demise and then give a smile when I'm right...to me it doesn't matter if you're right in the prediction of the Skins demise, what matters is that you're there as a fan when they need you...and guess what? The Skins need every one of us right now. If we don't root for them, then who will????
That being said, we all seem to forget that the Giants were 8-8 last year and made the playoffs in the NFC. In 2004, the Rams AND the Vikings were 8-8 in the NFC and made the playoffs. Now, I'm not saying we can make the playoffs with only an 8-8 record, but it is possible. Why not wait and see what happens before we call this a season. I do think a 9-7 team will make it in the NFC this year. 8-8 will be pushing it, but the way everyone seems to be beating everyone, it is possible.
So how about we all try this, stop sulking, and start cheering. It's never over. Look what we did in 05!!!!!!!!
Even if we lose to Dallas (we won't) we can still make the playoffs. But if we win, we are in the fast lane for the playoffs.
Sure we may not be the 04 Red Sox, but they SHOULD have taught us to NEVER give up. They were down in the 9th inning of game 4 with 2 out and 2 strikes vs the best closer in the league, and came back to win 4 straight and break an 86 year old curse. If they can do that, the Skins can certainly overcome a 5-4 record.

I realize that people tend to read one post and assume that the poster is either a kool-aid drinker or a hater-aid drinker. Some people, like djnemo, are somewhere in between. In his defense, djnemo has been pretty fair with the team.

This reminds me of that ESPN commercial:
"Are you questioning my fanhood'...'Should your fanhood be questioned?"
