SmootSmack 11-12-2007, 08:58 PM Smooty you goof, we just lost ST for two weeks. You think Romo is going to blow it in Dallas? Kool Aid my ass!!!!!!!! You must be smokin some high powered crack from the streets of DC!!!!!!! Crazy man, just crazy!!!!!! If we pull it off somehow it will be the greatest upset in the history of what is left of this rivalry. Dallas is going to score 35 points on us without ST though, so if you think we are going to win JC better throw 6 TDs.
Well when I started this thread, I didn't know the status of Taylor's injury. But the point of this thread, as pointed out by Lady Brave and RobH4413, among others, was to get some positive vibes going on this site.
I think there should be more threads like the ones 12thMan and skinsfan242 did today about "Perspective" and "Good and Bad" (though esentially the same thread). We're not 9-0, we're not 0-9. We're 5-4, a decent team with vast room for improvement. I'm not happy that we lost, I'm never happy when the team loses but one of the reasons I joined this site was to be able to come one after a win or loss and discuss intelligently with fellow fans.
Instead it's become so that the worst part about losing isn't the loss, but the reactions of so many members here. When we lose we get "rediculously" stupid threads and every other person here wants to end their own life it seems and insult anyone who dares to have any hope.
It is, as I've mentioned throughout the site, going to be very difficult to beat the Cowboys this weekend. Impossible? No. Difficult. Absolutely. I'd like, and I'm sure others would too, to be able to discuss the upcoming game rationally.
But if there's going to such extreme negativism it seems the only way to respond is with the total opposite. Damn shame that there is so much wasted knowledge on this site lately.

As always SS, you have a way of putting it that makes perfect sense.

Exactly why I wrote what I wrote right above this post!!!
RobH4413 11-12-2007, 10:30 PM Throwing logic out the window for fantasy is exactly the reason our nation is in a sorry ass state. And if everyone on the thread/site/blog was always like Yeah Redskins #1 all the time it would get boring after awhile. I see your point Rob, but a message board blog that says the same stuff all the time gets rather boring. The debate is what makes a blog or message board interesting and fun. I mean half the time I say shoot from the hip stuff just to get folks going. It is rather fun to be honest!!!!! Everyone here, with maybe a few folks, will cheer for the Skins no matter what even if they don't think the Skins realistically have a chance.
I'm not saying don't debate. Quite the contrary. I'm saying this thread was intended for some positivity, and people just jumped all over it. That's pretty much what my post was about. I'm just annoyed by so much irrational flagrant negativity (See every FIRE GIBBS/SAUNDERS/WILLIAMS/etc. threads and the arguments contained in those posts).
I love elevated discourse, and I hold the likes of Gtripp, Matty, SS, Jsarno, EQ (yes even quake), Schneed, Sheriff, etc. etc. highly, not because they're right all the time, and not because they're wrong all the time. It's just how they're right and wrong.
You see it over and over again. Arguments, supported by facts, supported by statistics/theories/evidence. It's what makes this site great. It's one of the best part's of being a fan. It's something that's been lacking recently. There are like 5 million other threads to bash the skins via angry nonsensical rants... This particular one just kind of irked me.
Anyways, Happy posting everyone. I'm out to get my drink on... (and not post while drunk... another key virtue rarely seen amongst the WP community)

jsarno 11-12-2007, 10:44 PM Will we? who knows really. Any given Sunday. But yesterday was so frustrating; there were so many positives we can take from the game (running game is back, the passing game can succeed without Moss, Campbell's growth) but in the end we came out with an L. It sucks, of course it sucks, no fan enjoys losing.
But what's even more frustrating is that it seems we can't even come onto this site, a REDSKINS FAN SITE, to boost our spirits and rally around our team. Instead, we have the usual "Joe must go" "This team is heading in the wrong direction" thread. Sad part is we even get those after wins. You'd think we'd never won a game ever the way some people talk.
So, call me crazy, call this thread 'retarded' all you want, but it's high time we got some more positive vibes going here. Of course, I know there will be those "I'm just being a realist" responses. But the reality is that we're 5-4 and plenty of teams around the NFL are in worse shape than us. And there is a lot to feel good about 9 games into the season. That so few people see that on a Redskins fan site is a shame.
Call it bold, call it stupid. But I'm saying right here right now that the Redskins will be 6-4 after next Sunday. Someone has to think positive, it might as well be me. If we lose, I'll use the infamous Parrot avatar for two weeks. If we win, I'm banning 10 of you for two weeks ;)
I'm about to do a Kool-Aid keg stand, who's with me?
Hell yeah...pass some this way. If you really do attract what you think about, then we will lose for sure...we need more people thinking we will win.
We're GONNA WIN! You heard it here first! We can beat them!!!!
dall-assblows 11-12-2007, 10:47 PM YO TMC pass the blunt!
GMScud 11-12-2007, 11:24 PM I like the vibes so I'm gonna keep it positive. I'm really liking some of the things our offense is doing right now. Campbell is obviously more than capable of being a very good signal caller and leader. I'm concerned about the fumbles, but the offense has been playing very well since the NE debacle. We need to let it all hang out against Dallas. I want to see an all out effort. Spread the offense. Jump head first into that 700 page playbook and have some fun. Take some pressure off the banged up defense for once. We gotta come to butt heads and have fun. Let's make the odds makers look like A-Holes for making us 11 point dogs.

That was probably the most encouraging aspect of Sunday's game. If this is what he looks like with 16 games under his belt, I can't wait to see what he will do in a year or so. And if JC turns out to be the QB we've longed for, all front office shortcomings or coaching woes go right out the window.
GTripp0012 11-13-2007, 12:53 AM Lions are about to slide a bit Sheriff. NY and GB are going to beat the shit out of them, then I believe they get Dallas next after that. NEVER use the Lions as a gage of a good team. They have teased us up here in Detroit for years only to blow it somehow along the way. To be honest, the NFL is in a sorry ass state now with only literally a few teams playing anything resembling decent football(GB, Dallas,NE, and INdy) The rest of the squads are a lot like us with injuries or schmucks not performing. IF we do beat Dallas this year, it will be in Fedex with the Boys resting Romo, TO, and the gang getting ready for the playoffs. It sucks rocks, but that is what it looks like. We just are in a sorry ass state as of now as a team. We seem to lose a starter every week now.We beat the Eagles in week 2 on the road. That's a quality win as much as one can be.
Their defensive struggles aside, they showed the world what they could do offensively against us. They are a really good 4-5 and to be one of those 5...even if we didn't hold the lead this week, we played them tough twice.
We haven't seen a lot of quality teams this year, but Pats game aside, we brought it every time we did see one.
Of course, that's like 3 games in which we are 1-2, but that aint bad if you are going to eliminate easy competition from the equation. This team is miles above last year's team on the defensive side of the ball.
paulskinsfan 11-13-2007, 10:29 AM Matt, do we have a bet too?
