GTripp0012 11-11-2007, 11:26 PM you really think that??? westbrook cannot get a short yardage run... they shoveled it in today, and he's a great speedy recieving back, but I'd take portis over any other back in our division....
is brandon jacobs better? and julius jones? or are you talking about marion barber?
Either way portis is the second leading rusher in the NFC and number 3 in the entire league... in yards and in td's...
I'm not trying to call you out or be mean, but what you say makes no sense to me.Jacobs is better, Barber is better, Westbrook is better.
Westbrook can't get a short yardage run...that's not based in reality. You don't have to look any further than today, but if you choose to, he's got incredible statistical splits in every situation. He's just a great player, probably the best RB in the conference.
Barber is just really, really good. Probably the 2nd best running back in the conference. Great vision, runs hard, great receiving skills. You can't really argue that Portis is a better running back than those two.
Now, Jacobs is the most controversial, but based on what he's done so far this year, he is very clearly better than Portis. He's still got a long way to go to establish himself as an elite back, but right now I would say he's running better than Portis. Jacobs is having a great, great year so long as hes been healthy. Much better than Portis, thus far. We'll see if I'm right on this one. One thing is for sure, the Giants running game over the past few years has been much better than ours.

JWsleep 11-11-2007, 11:31 PM And what are the numbers? I think Portis is right up there as well.
GusFrerotte 11-11-2007, 11:35 PM [quote=skinsguy;376765]Instead of following the Prozac crowd who only wishes to point out the "mistakes" of today's game, let's look at the positives.
1. Clinton Portis rushed for over 130 yards today. He's definitely back on track and this is a good sign for our offense if Portis is running like he has the past two weeks.
2. Jason Campbell - should've had four TD passes today, but three TD passes and appeared to really get on a roll today. The guy is going to be a real solid QB in this league. I think he only gets better from here on out.
3. The offense has been opened up. Nobody should complain about our offense being too conservative today. The offense was attacking the Eagles defense and appeared to be unstoppable.
4. Randall Godfrey - had a really good game and was in position for two INTs.
5. Shawn Springs - Continues to prove that he's our #1 CB. A definite shut down corner for us. I hope he has a few more good years left.
6. Our offensive line - it's starting to open holes for our running backs which is in turn allowing us to open our offense up for a balanced passing attack.
7. MacCardell - In year 16, he's still a dependable WR that can step in and make plays for us when our other receivers are out. Even though we might have lost him for the rest of the season, James Thrash has been another solid guy for us to turn to.
Through all the many injuries we've had to solid veteran players this year and for us to still be above .500 is a big accomplishment. I believe this team is getting closer to being the team we want to see Sunday in and Sunday out. This loss sucked big time today, but I guarantee we beat a team this season that we're not supposed to beat and that will balance everything out.[/quote
Yeah, and the point being? We still lost. This franchise has shitty luck since Jack Kent Cooke dies. One phase of the game is great, but another collapses. I will be a grandfather before we make the playoffs it looks like. We can never catch a break or play a full 60 minutes of football. If the offense sucks, the D looks great and vice versa. The NFL is a rather mediocre product overall this decade it seems. Thank God I am in Detroit with some nice alternatives(Pistons, Wings) to fall back on once the Skins pack it up.

Go crap on someone else's thread. There is already two "Joe must Go" threads for you to do your crappin' in.
SmootSmack 11-11-2007, 11:38 PM Great thread. F'ing brilliant. It's perfectly ok it seems to bitch after wins, so why not have a thread like this after a loss.

Good point, but guess what? Those guys are gone so we have to deal with it and hope the backups play good ball. Hopefully next season they will be back 100% and we can give it another go.

Well put! Nice silver lining there! I hate to see what you think the negatives are...
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 11-11-2007, 11:48 PM Also, Andre Carter continues to look like a stud with 11 sacks in the last 14 games (7 in this season's 9 games).

Plus, another pivotal forced fumble that nearly saved/won the game for us. Too bad it went unrewarded.
