While we're discussing play calling, I would have LOVED to have seen at least a few screen passes with all that pressure they were trying to bring.

Maybe, maybe not.

I think it's pretty nitpicky to argue outside run vs. inside run. Hindsight is 20-20.

Well guess what, Mr. Hindsight. Throwing away three games that you dominated your opponent leaves you in no man's land.

Detroit is probably a playoff team this year. We are head and shoulders above them. Anyone with a pulse could tell you that.

Do you?

You seem to know a lot about talking in riddles, but I'm not sure how far that takes you on a football fourm.

Lets see, a Jumbo package is a play you run from the goal line to punch it into the endzone, because your inches away. Jumbo is not a formation you run from the 8 yard line because your bunching the entire offense into one area and even if you get a little bit of a push Portis will more than likely fall over one of his own men, by god, thats what exactly happened. But then again I only talk in riddle because I have no clue what im talking about.

What makes you think we won't be ahead of them at the end of the year?

What does Marinelli do that Gibbs doesn't?

It's not like you know anything about the Lions...so I don't expect you to answer, but it'd be kind of cool if you would defend your argument intelligently for once instead of BSing your way around these parts for a few hours.

The only thing better, is that Jerry Jones not Wade Phillips hired Jason Garrett as the Offensive Coordinator. Parcells is a winner just like Gibbs whether you believe it or not. Show me Phillips coaching record compared to Parcells, oh that's right I'm living in the past.

Parcells was a winner, just like Joe Gibbs was a winner, but Parcells accomplished nothing in his return to the sideline with the cowboys and the only thing Joe Gibbs has done is make people shake there heads.

Nope, it was a great play. The Eagles defense was sending the kitchen sink after Campbell on that play, and the only way we had a chance to score was to hand it to Portis on a draw. If Campbell had dopped back to pass, he would've gotten blown up.You clearly weren't watching the game if you think the Eagles threw the kitchen sink at Campbell on 3rd and 7. I just replayed that play to be sure that I saw it correctly the first time. They in fact rushed ONLY the front four, with two LB's dropping back after faking blitz. It should not have come to that play if Cooley stays onside the play before, but still a ridiculously conservative call on third and long.

We did have some screen passes in there.
One of them lost 3 yds on the drive after Westbrook scored.

Ahh, nothing like a good rant thread to make us all feel better! ;)

Losing sucks. And losing to an NFC East team, at home, when we we're winning in the 4th sucks worse. And seeing McNabb hug the Walrus on the sideline was the worst of all. Nasty.

The skins are a team that causes great pain to its fans. The difference in feeling between winning and losing this game is gigantic, given everything else going on.

Here's what I think: no one is going to get fired during the year. No one. We're going to play out the season, and Gibbs himself, as well as his high-paid assistants, will have to seriously look in the mirror and do what's best for the team. I think we're not all that far from being good--close loses in games we've been winning, but for one. Injuries have hurt--that's not an excuse, but a fact. So in appraising things, it should be taken into consideration.

To me, the offense looked good this week, but for the goal line fiasco, and that's encouraging. The D is another story, but I do think the loss of Taylor and Rogers, as wel as Marcus, hurts.

Here's what I'd do if it were my team: keep the staff, if they want to stay, and strengthen the D in draft and FA. Try to get some o-line depth and another--hopefully bigger--WR. And proceed under the assumption that JC will continue to grow, and will be the future for this team. Given that, and an improved D, I think it will come. We can move the ball, and the coaches are getting more confidence in JC--in the no-huddle, JC called the plays. We MUST fix the red zone offense, but that can be done, IMO. I think the D is a few bodies short, especially on the line. We can't dominate the line of scrimmage late, and it shows.

I don't think the fire/tear-down approach will be more fruitful, though it sometimes works. But it sometimes does not, and (apologies to Daseal) our Spurrier experiment is an example of how it can go bad.
