Does anyone know why we don't use audibles in our offense? It seems like you would want to be able to get out of a play if the defense comes out in a formation or package you weren't expecting.

Campbell17 11-10-2007, 02:07 PM Unlike college FB, it's kinda hard to make a succesfull audible, and nearly impossible to do it consistantly. RobH4413 11-10-2007, 02:11 PM It's a shame that there aren't certain circumstance that Campbell can work a quick hot route change, or something like that. There have been several occasions where the defense has clearly brought the house, and a quick check could have given our offense a better chance... jsarno 11-10-2007, 02:13 PM Unlike college FB, it's kinda hard to make a succesfull audible, and nearly impossible to do it consistantly. I gotta disagree with this comment...EVERY good QB uses an audible. Peyton does on every play practically. Most teams will except for those that do not have faith in their QB's. MTK 11-10-2007, 02:21 PM Saunders' offense doesn't use them. It has nothing to do with the coaches lacking confidence in Campbell. ARTICLE: NFL Preview: Al Saunders on the attack for Redskins (The Virginian-Pilot - HamptonRoads.com/PilotOnline.com) (http://content.hamptonroads.com/story.cfm?story=110527&ran=150031) Where it gets tricky is that there are virtually no audibles: The quarterback and receivers must read the defense quickly and make pre-assigned adjustments. JWsleep 11-10-2007, 03:00 PM Correct--Saunders does not use them. This is one of the things making it harder for Campbell right now, IMO, especially with the hurt WRs. These reads have to be second nature for these guys--a free blitzer may be coming at you, and the WR and QB have to know where to go. That's chemistry, and it takes time to develop. And given our lack of offensive plays at times, it tough to get this going in a game. Further, he can't audible out of a pass or run--at least not usually. I'd look to adding that to this offense, but I guess they've got enough troubles at present to work on. JWsleep 11-10-2007, 03:01 PM (BTW, didn't Gibbs offense use audibles? More fodder for the JG vs AS debate...) saden1 11-10-2007, 04:26 PM They can't even execute plays called...how in the hell can you expect them to audible and execute at the same time. You ask for too much. rk3025 11-10-2007, 06:54 PM In Saunders offense you are to read the defense and pick the assigned options Is this too hard for qb? They can't even execute plays called...how in the hell can you expect them to audible and execute at the same time. You ask for too much. |
