with portis running the way he was, what did you want to do? we won. i think that still means something

You are correct. We won. But I just want to see more of that type of attitude. Outside of that onside kick we played not to loose on offense yesterday. It was good enough to beat the Jets. But it's not going to be good enough to beat alot of the teams we have coming up.

But it looks like Gibbs is just going to ride CP the rest of the way and see where it takes us. Not a bad thing I guess.

i liked the call to onsides it . . . . they got up early on us and when they got to 17 points i was starting to think we would need our D to score one for us to win it b/c we know our O averages 13-14 pts a game . . .

mtredskins - maybe your having a bad brain day but your in the right place, lots of smart football talk to read and learn from on this site

sorry for the double post but while its nice to actually have us come from behind and win one for a change i do think against a better team we couldnt overcome such a deficit with our non-explosive offense but man did the Jets D look tired and beat up going into the 4th!!!!!

Really? How many times have we all seen false starts way down in the redzone and the line of scrimage pushed back 5 or 10 yards? Or how many times have we looked rushed in similar situations and the play is botched?

The call showed more confidence in our guys and they stepped up.

The 2-point conversion was a no-brainer. Kicking the XP would only put us up 2 points. Going for the 2-point conversion would mean we were only up 1 point, but getting it puts us up 3 points. Being up 1 point vs being up 2 points is irrelevant, being up 3 points is a big deal.

There's nothing gutsy or ballsy about that call, that's just common sense.

Kinda reminded me of the Miami game. We just kept pounding and by the 4th quarter the Jets were clearly on the ropes and that's when Portis gashed them.

The onside kick was a nice touch...however, it was nice to see the Skins NOT divert from the game plan being down and continued to give the Jets a steady diet of Portis down their throats...

It was a great, and yes, gutsy call.

I didn't see anyone mention when Sean Taylor was returning that short FG. He ALMOST broke it for a TD and it probably would've been if he hadn't dropped the ball.

We also went for 2.

It seems Gibbs is taking more chances this year than in years past. We used to punt or kick a FG every 4th down, this year, we're going for it a lot more than we used to. Good to see.

Considering this coaching staff, the decision for an onsides kick was nothing short of astounding.

Gibbs takes that kind of gamble maybe once every 3 seasons or so.

Not to discredit Taylor's ability to return the ball but is there a reason why you wouldn't put someone like Randle El or Cartwright back there?

^ I guess because ST is a defender and if the Jets had tried to pull a fake FG play, I'd rather have Taylor back there to stop it instead of a WR.

Taylor is great at running back fumbles and picks, he's done it many times before and he nearly busted this play open for a TD...if he had only held onto the ball.
