GTripp0012 10-31-2007, 10:23 AM And... are we counting on a total collapse by Detriot? They are 5-2, you know.
I know we beat the living piss out of them, but aside from the games with us and Philly, they've played solidly. They've been bad though.
They might have played their best game of the season against Chicago, but they still have GB twice, Dallas, the Giants among other teams.
A 4-5 finish (extremely optimistic) only gets them to 9-7, and we hold the tiebreaker.
Dlyne8r 10-31-2007, 10:44 AM Sorry fellas. I'm typically an optimist when it comes to my views of the 'Skins, but I'm gonna have to say no and pray that I am proven terribly wrong at the beginning of the post season. I simply believe that our O-line problems are going to be too much to overcome. That area is the reason our running game has suffered, not Clinton Portis thank you, and Jason Campbell is now running for his life. Anything can happen and hopefully we can somehow keep plugging decent bodies in on the offensive line. But that will be quite a challenge to say the least and I think we will be watching the playoffs from the sideline...again. :-(
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-31-2007, 11:12 AM Perhaps people haven't noticed, but New Orleans has won 3 in a row and in strong fashion. They're waking up.
And I'm still a bit afraid of Philadelphia, especially when Brian Dawkins returns. People are writing both of those teams off WAAY too quickly.
We have the chops to beat them either head to head or in a race for a playoff spot, don't get me wrong. It's certainly possible we get in. But to say the NFC is so crappy is dangerous. The Saints especially are perfectly capable of going on a tear.
We're halfway through the season now. Can bad teams (e.g., Philly) pull out and get to the playoffs? Sure, but good teams can also collapse. In judging whether or not we will make the playoffs, I am simply looking at our conference, the current standings, and the schedule. I just see us winning 9 or 10 games and getting the 6th seed.
skinsfan69 10-31-2007, 11:26 AM I understand why there is a lot of gloom and doom sentiment around here. I would have to be a blind optimist to think that we don't have some serious problems. The running game is the worst we've seen in years, the passing game has sputtered, we've lost Jansen and Rogers for the season, Thomas might not come back until mid-December, we barely beat Miami and Arizona, and we got demolished by the Patriots.
With all that being said, I strongly believe that this team will make the playoffs and here is why. Yes, the defense got demolished by the Patriots, but what defense wouldn't? The defense is stout and, with the emergence of Rocky McIntosh and the additions of guys like Laron Landry, London Fletcher, and even David Macklin, this defense will return to form next week. The offensive line is really banged up, but I cannot help but think that time itself and Buges' coaching up will help improve things (even if the O-line doesn't become a source of strength). Portis, Moss and Betts, IMO, are not the Hall of Famers we want them to be, but they are too good to continue playing like they have. Does anyone really think Portis, Moss, and Betts can play any worse? Jason Campbell is young and has just 14 starts under his belt and should improve with time. Finally, after this Sunday we should be 5-3 in a weak NFC with a schedule that isn't a cakewalk, but isn't exactly tough.
So, my question to you is, will the Redskins make the playoffs this season?
Nope. How can anyone say we are going to make the playoffs scoring 14 points a game??? It's crazy. Three teams are not going to come out of the NFC East. Cowboys and Giants are going to make because they are: 1. better than we are. 2. both are ahead of us.

How can you say Philly is a bad team?? Sorry dude but they are not a bad team at all. They are an average team that has had some tough losses. They can very easily come down here and beat us and I wouldn't be shocked if they did.
skinsfan69 10-31-2007, 11:30 AM They've been bad though.

So how can you be so sure we are going to even make it to 9-7?? We have to play Dallas twice. That could very well be two L's.
skinsfan69 10-31-2007, 11:35 AM If we continue to sputter on offense and continue to think that Cover 2 is unbeatable we wont make the playoffs .... but

We need to win at least 2 or 3 divisional games .. I think we beat Philly @ home and get revenge against the G-Men ... RT should be back for that one and Im thinkin' we steal one from the Cowgirls @ home ... We have offically hit rock bottom after sunday's loss ... but it will only make this team stronger ... Campbell learn a good lesson Sunday ... Hopefully Wade can learn to block ... cuz hes the weak link on the line
12-4 to 10-6
We finish 2nd in the East ... im Hopin'
Hope I'm wrong but this is how I see it.
2 L's to the Cowboys.
1 L to TB
1 L to NYG
1 L to either Philly or Bears.
9-7 or 8-8
DEVIL'S OWN 10-31-2007, 11:41 AM uhhh....... what?????
listen, listen, the light on....what are we gone to do, score 6 points a game and win out....we have on WR touchdowns, our running game has hit a snag, some of you amaze me......?????????
DEVIL'S OWN 10-31-2007, 11:43 AM I think he was pointing out the fact that Mike Vrabel for the Patriots has 2 receiving TD's this season and the WR's for Washington do not have any.
thank you?????? what the hell is going on around here.........
Riggo44 10-31-2007, 11:49 AM I think we can still do it. There is still alot of football to be played.
