GhettoDogAllStars 10-30-2007, 10:57 PM I said No.
With the Giants at 6-2 and the Cowboys at 6-1, it's going to be very difficult. If we don't move ahead of one of them, I don't see us making the playoffs. I just think our division is too strong.
I do think we'll finish the season with a winning record, and probably make 10-6, but that might not be enough.
I hope I'm wrong.
Slingin Sammy 33 10-30-2007, 11:00 PM I hope I'm wrong, but I'll go on record as a "No". Here's why:
1) OL is injured and not very good.
2) Portis is not hitting what holes are there. IMO he's either hurt or mentally checked out from this team.
3) Our WRs are poor at best
4) Our offense has no identity, the playcalling is too predictable and some flat out bad playcalls for the game situations we've been in have been made.
5) Campbell will still make young QB mistakes and he's not very good in the three step game. He looks good in Play-action and 5-7 step (when we can protect and a receiver gets open). But the quick passing game should be our best option with a banged up OL.
6) Our defense is good but doesn't scare anybody. To overcome all the offensive problems we need a "dominant" defense (Bears '06, SB Ravens or SB Tampa). This defense, while solid, cannot carry this team.
Here's how I beleive the playoffs will unfold:
Divison winners will be: Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans and Seattle. NY Giants (unless they tank) will be one Wildcard. That leaves us, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Arizona fighting for the last wildcards.
Here's how I see the rest of the season: Should be Wins: BUF & NYJ, Probable Losses: Tampa Bay (in Tampa), Dallas (at Dallas), NYG (in NY, we haven't won there in the last 3 years). Could go either way: CHI, PHI, MIN, Dallas (at home). So before the games going either way we are 6 - 6, if we split we're 8 - 8 and that's not getting us in. If we are 9 - 7 we have a chance if the tiebreakers go our way, but Tampa's schedule is easier than ours and Detroit is 5-2. Our playoffs will probably be determined on Nov. 25th in Tampa Bay.
Skins fan 44 10-30-2007, 11:04 PM I voted no. I just dont see how we can rebound after this week. I dont think the offense is very good. Our injuries are too great to make it. I think we will probably loose some close games to teams we should beat. I hope I am wrong. :frusty: But I guess there is always next year.
saden1 10-30-2007, 11:05 PM It really doesn't matter what other teams do. We have to win 6 out of the remaining 9 games to make the playoffs. Put it another way, we can only afford 3 losses. What in gods name makes you think Gibbs and Co have a better than 50% chance of winning 6 more games?
artmonkforhallofamein07 10-30-2007, 11:05 PM Thanks sandtrap there as putting down a yes. I see us splitting with the boys this year. I also think we should be 10-6 at the end of the year. Getting Thomas back in december might also propell us to a couple of wins in the playoffs. That is as long as we don't have many more injuries. Our D will be back next week. We have Macklin and Pearson P. as nickel guys. Also we need Smooot back in the lineup. O-line time to Gell this week.
Campbell17 10-30-2007, 11:07 PM they will make it, a lot, because of the weak NFC, we will be seeded 6
Daseal 10-30-2007, 11:17 PM I don't think we will be able to make the playoffs. Ideally, I'd love to see how the team as a whole rebounds from this loss, but I think our team is too inconsistent to make the playoffs. Typically, we seem to play up and down to our competition (those close games regardless of our opponents, except the Patriots, is a bad sign -- not a good one). The skins won't be out of many games, but they will be keeping games close which can mean unlucky losses, etc.
I just think the Giants are really hot although they typically tail off as the season goes on, Dallas looks great, and Philly looks great against Detroit!
Our playoff chances really depend on the NFC South. I think it's pretty safe that GB will win the north, and the west is terrible so we don't have to worry about a wildcard. Carolina and TB will fight it out for that division, and the loser has a good shot at the 2nd wild card.
vaoutlaws2006 10-30-2007, 11:20 PM check me in with a yes we will make the playoffs. given the weak nfc..i dont see how we wont. and it all starts sunday against the jets. Its time to either put up or shut up. I do think our offense is suffering from the injury bug. Its time open up this so called 700 page play book and do something to get this offense jump started. But on a side note i cant believe the folks over at nfl network for reshowing that performance from sunday. I thought they showed the best games from the previous weekend...what the hell were they thinking about? and finally GO COLTS on sunday.
Schneed10 10-30-2007, 11:28 PM I am typically an optimist, but I'm getting a rotten vibe. I gotta go with no.
I think teams in the last few weeks have exposed our weaknesses on offense. The secret is out that you can get in Campbell's face up the middle, because Rabach is not 100% and Fabini stinks. The secret is also out that we only run to the left. Nobody respects our ability to run right. I don't respect it either.
I don't think we win either of the Cowboy games, and I can't see us beating BOTH the Giants and Philly. McNabb's looking a lot better lately, by the way. Three more losses within the division will really put us in a bind. We'd need to win every other game left on the schedule.
I'd love nothing more than to be wrong, but I think we come close, but ultimately miss out at 9-7.
PS If we lose to the Jets, our chances of making the playoffs drop to like 10% in my opinion, I'm counting on us beating them.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-30-2007, 11:33 PM I'm not so sure why people are counting us out at 9-7. People must have more faith in the NFC than I do. I'm just not sold on the notion that there are 6 better teams than the Redskins in the NFC.
