I think its too early to think about extending JC contract. I want to see more of him before we give him the big deal.

Uh I'm almost satisfied with JC, like I said ALMOST.. If it wasn't for drops WRs dropped, I wld wanted Redskins to extend the contract with JC..

Dont worry he will get his big deal from the Skins.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Campbell just signed a 5 year/20 mill dollar deal in 2005? There is still plenty of time before having to think about an extension.

Romo was in the last year of his contract is was going to be an UFA after the season. Getting the extension done prior to Nov 5th allowed the organization to absorb a portion of the cap hit on this years cap, which lightens the cap hit on the remaining years.

He is signed until 2009 so why would we even start to think about extending his contract until the end of next year? He has played OK this year but I don't think he is scaring anyone at this point in his career. Don't get me wrong I think JC has allot of up side but we have plenty of time to wait and see before signing any new deals.

The point is to lock him up now while he would still come at a relatively decent value. 2 years down the road if he's one of the top QBs in the game his value will go through the roof.

JC might turn out to be an OK and an average QB, but not an elite one. That would be a stretch. Plus, even if he does, how much difference in the contact would that make? Is that difference worth the risk?

.500 win? He is 12-5 as a starter, that is like .705! How many other QB's in the history of the league went 12-5 in the first 17 starts? I don't know exactly, but I will wager you can count them on one hand.

And he has only had 1 playoff game in his career. Kinda hard to judge based on 1.

without going to the internet to make sure on other guys i know philip rivers went 14-2 in his first real year so thats like .875! its just my opinion on romo based on what we've seen so far, it takes a few consistently good seasons before QBs have established themselves . . . sometimes he looks good, sometimes not so good

I think so too. He is like Brady (not in numbers and stats) you either like him or hate him. Not like Cutler or Young or other QBs where you neither like nor dislike the guy.

I really respect you BigD, because you post using respect at a rival board. It's nothing special here, it is like that on all boards.

The only truly elite passers in the league right now are Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, so I'd agree that Campbell will probably never reach that level, but I think you're selling him a bit short by saying he'll only be average. His only glaring issue at the moment is his short to intermediate accuracy, which can improve with experience. He already has above average poise and a cannon arm. I think he'll be a very good quarterback in time; along the same lines as Carson Palmer or Ben Roethlisberger.

And as far as Romo, he'll never be in the elite class either. I think he'll be good, but if recent history is any kind of hint of the future, he looks like a choker in big games, like McNabb.
