As most of you probably know by now we are having some pretty bad fires here in California. With the drought we’ve had and the Santa Ana winds they are almost impossible to fight.

One of them is burring about 1 mile from my house right now. So far my street is still safe but some of the houses down the road aren’t so lucky. The worst part about the fire by me is that it's arson. I can't understand why some asshole would do such a thing. I hope they can catch the mother f-cker and string him up by his balls!

I had to come home from work yesterday to watch over my house. Around lunch time my girlfriend and I walked over to the fire and took some footage with my cell phone. The images are pretty bad quality and it's hard to tell just how close the fire, helicopter and things were. But it shows what was happening. My prayers go out the families that haven’t been as lucky as we have. (Nock on wood) For those that care to see here's a link.

Wow. I guess I hadn't been following this story as close as I thought I had. I didn't realize someone started these fires. I thought it was just a natural disaster

Stay safe

Thanks SS it looks like the worst is past us.

Most of the fires we get are natural. But it seems ever time a big one get's going and makes the news, some yahoo has to go out and set some more.

The wild fires are devastating here in san diego.
a quater of the population of san diego county has been displaced.

I've been up all night watching the fire with my car packed up. I live about a mile from a 77,000 acre fire and it's really scary. It looks like we are going to be safe...

Good luck guys and do not let your guards down for one minute. My wife's Aunt & Uncle lost their home Monday night. They thought all was safe and before they knew what was going on had to rush out of their burning home. They could believe how fast the fire turned when the winds took an unsuspected turn. They just tried to get some shut eye and it almost cost them their lives. Even if they were up they could not have saved the house. DON"T MAKe THEIR MISTAKE. If you must rest have someone on watch as things can change quickley.

Good luck to everyone in California. I wish you all safety and peace of mind.

I can understand a little kid playing with matches and making a mistake. What I can't understand is the motive for an adult to start a forest fire. Insurance fraud? Destroying damning evidence? I don't know what else it could be.

Another thing that amazes me is the fire investigators who are able to determine so much from burned material. They can tell how it was started, where it was started, and when. It's incredible. That would be a pretty cool job, IMO.
