chris66 10-23-2007, 01:19 PM our defense will dominate the pats during the first half. we will frustrate them and will not score a lot of points on us, again I am pointing to the first half when our defense still fresh.
You base this on what? The pats have scored on their first possession in every game so far this season including the cowboys.
If your defense plays a deep cover 2 all game. Pats offense will just keep running, take the the underneath stuff and have 6-8 min drives, which is the style they prefer to play. The only reason why the last 2 games have been so many passing yards is because teams have been trying to stop the run and leaving the outside and middle zones open

Gibbs takes over this weeks play calling (behind the scenes). Running game breaks out this week against the PATS. Some playaction bombs of our own are in store as well. We get back to smashmouth football and control the clock very well in this road affair. Run left, right, toss, pitch, sellers, portis, betts, and keep pounding and no turnovers! Kicking game big in this and we have a great punter.
Defense needs to continue with a 4 man rush and Carter and company have a much better game. Our LB's need to play run when they are in tight and drop into aggressive zones when they spread us out. Sean Taylor plays deep all day to make sure Moss doesn't have that easy score. Springs and Rogers tight and looking to make plays. NO BLITZES EARLY! Brady will not be beaten by our blitz we will. Continue what they have been doing and we score another td on Defense here. We are by far the best defense they have faced and will beat them on Sunday.
HAIL!!!!!!
I'll agree with one, we probably have the best D they have faced. But it could be they have made teams D's that bad by the ass whipping they have been handing out.
I dont know what kind of scheme we should or will use. Its got its faults either way. Run, run, run, ball control..eat the clock score few points. Attack the D with passing and risk 3 and outs and the D is on the field more. Its a toss up. We have to try and limit the pats touches offensively as best we can. They are a team that can sustain long scoring drives by throwing the ball. Now w/ Maroney back, they will try and run a little more to get our safeties up. This is not the Olines we have faced, their Oline is VERY GOOD. Hardly anyone has put consistant pressure on Brady, either with the Blitz or not. I think if we can get some hits on the recievers early, BIG HITS we may be able get them a little hesitant and looking for defenders before catching the ball. Brady is so calm under pressure I just dont know if its possible to rattle him with blitzing.
i hope we keep it close. if we get a couple of turnovers on their side of the 50 we need to convert those into TD's. we definately need to be more aggressive with the down field passing. even if its just to keep the safeties honest.
Chief X_Phackter 10-23-2007, 01:24 PM I have to be honest and say I really don't like our chances. It's going to take our best effort and the Pats to have an off day. I just hope we can keep it respectable.
Are you sure you're a Skins fan? ;)
How many more wins until you learn your lesson? :spank:

We've been playing the pass all season long and, if my memory serves me, we haven't had anyone rush for 100 yards on us. Our defense is better than any defense you faced.

RJ2kWJ 10-23-2007, 01:26 PM Do we really have a 5 game win streak over the Pats like I heard last night?
Six games... Only lost the first one back in '72 I believe.
skinsfan69 10-23-2007, 01:31 PM IF you look at it this way the Pats schedule of teams they beat are 17-28 (6-1 have come from the Cowboys) So maybe it not the Pats being so dominant its just they havent played anyone.
I am saying it if the Cowboys had a pass defense at all they would have beaten the Pats.
The Pats are like LSU before they played Florida and Kentucky and Auburn. The Redskins defense will slow them down.
You could say that we haven't exactly played anyone either. And they beat Dallas at Dallas pretty easily. Do you think we could go to Dallas and hang 48 on them? No way in hell.

That will change now. their first few possesions will be hard. especially when our defense is fresh. our LBs and DL will take away their run game. have the speed on the LB to challenge their middle passing game
Swarley 10-23-2007, 01:32 PM hey guys, long time lurker first time poster here. I just want to say that I agree with 12thman on this one. The Pats really have not faced a defense like ours and it's about time this offense gets going. I can deal with being called a homer for a week but I do believe we can pull of a win.

You're right, no hundred yard rushers yet. Although Maynard and Westbrooks came within a whisker of getting there.
