skinsfan69 10-23-2007, 10:51 AM I want to be a homer, I really do, but I just think this Patriots team is not the best team in the league this year, but maybe one of the best teams of all time in ANY YEAR. The 2007 Patriots are on the verge of becoming one of those historic teams that we will all be talking about in the future like the '85 Bears. Just a totally dominating team, that crushes everyone by 2 TDs or more everyweek. We all now see how great Brady is with real WRs. They are an All-star team playing wantabees. I know this is a downer of a post, but it is hard not to believe. Maybe things will change when the weather gets bad and their running game (which is the only weakness I see) has to perform and it can't, but time will tell.
They have a great offense but they do not have a great defense. People have been scoring points against them.
jbcjr14 10-23-2007, 10:52 AM I think we will hang in early and like 12th said...the second half is another story. I don't think we get blown off the field because our D is that good to keep it within a couple scores.
skinsfan69 10-23-2007, 10:54 AM You forgot the 6th reason, It's a Gibbs coached team , not Wade Phillips, Norv, etc. We will not get blown off the field like the rest, we will give more than they can handle.
Huh??? So GW has nothing to do with it? Where would we be w/out GW's defense this year?
They scored 49 against Miami and could have scored more. . We scored 13. What does that say about us?
It says nothing, it's fuzzy logic that really doesn't mean anything.
And we actually scored 16.

If anything costs Washington the game, it will be the inability of the offense to score points, but it certainly won't be because of the defense. The only prediction I'll make this week is the Pats will have their lowest scoring output of the season.
BrudLee 10-23-2007, 10:55 AM Homerism or not, New England has seven wins this season. Five of which were against the bottom five total defenses in the league. If they think Washington will be a pushover, they're sadly mistaken.
Defensive ranks for those teams may be overblown. After all, they had to play the Pats. That can't help your stats.
My feeling with the Pats right now is that they haven't been the defensive team that they could be. The allowed 28 points to Miami - 21 after Ronnie "the Dolphins only offensive weapon" Brown was lost for the game (and season). Was the defense already celebrating the victory? If that's the case, it speaks volumes to their focus. Given that the media is already hyping next week's Pats/Colts game, we may be playing out as a classic "trap game".
I don't think it will happen, though I know it can.
chris66 10-23-2007, 10:57 AM If your Redskins are in it by halftime and manage to cover the spread. You guys will be the first team to do this and should consider this a moral victory.
SFREDSKIN 10-23-2007, 11:01 AM Huh??? So GW has nothing to do with it? Where would we be w/out GW's defense this year?
Who coaches the team Gibbs or Williams? Who hired Williams? I know the offense isn't up to par yet, but we do have an offense, we are not only a defense team.

Washington has already faced some ridiculous passing attacks, and held them im check for the most part. I just don't see the Pats running away with this one unless the O line play is as poor as it was last week, and the offense is completely unable to sustain drives... so I guess I'm optimistic about the first half...
freddyg12 10-23-2007, 11:04 AM Tremendous post & living up to your name 12th, truly the post of the 12th man. Good points indeed.
I feel myself gradually ascending or descending (not sure which is accurate) into homerism w/each visit to the warpath this week. Maybe it's because there is an unusual lack of homerism this week.
I really think 12th has good points, we are going to give Brady fits. He'll hit some stuff, but if we can stuff the run, GW will mix up coverages & force Brady to audible like he's never had to. I expect this to be a mean game.
I'm concerned about our O, like everyone else is, but it occurred to me that maybe the AZ game was our Oakland game of 05. After that mess we came back & had a power running game the rest of the year & went on a roll. Maybe from here out our Offense gets a wake up call & we become a pass first team. It's obvious that's what these O linemen can do.
Like 12th said, look for a real game plan from AS. Gibbs has already admitted this week that the plan was too conservative on sunday, so that's a sign that he may be willing to step aside some from the planning & let Al take it on his own more. I thought that happened after the Giants game as we came out in Detroit passing to set up the run. Look for that on sunday.
