Remember back when you could hear the marching band throught the game (in between plays) beating the drums? That used to get me more fired up for the game than anything. Of course it helped that we were consistently good back then..
Here are other things I would like to see brought back the the Skins gameday experience :

1. the field being painted up, including the midfield logo for big games (including dallas) and playoffs..

2. the vibrating seats .. but that probably will never happen since they (the seats at RFK) were not purposely desingned that way.

3. the stadium intimidation factor. I am referring to the 'corporate attitude' surrounding the team and the way some fans just sit there..I grew up down the street from RFK and have been there, and that place used to get loud as shit. Fans should not look down on other fans for wanting to passionately follow the team.

4. the Team winning games in the trenches both offensively and defensively like we used to..WAKE up coach gibbs and staff - draft some DE's....And hopefully we get our O-line back together one day. Actually, this should be # 1 on the list....

just some things i wanted to share.

As a guy who just caught the tale end of the Skins heyday ('92 SB) and has been a fan ever since, those good old days sound like the shizzle.

I'm not trying to change the direction of this thread but want to ask kind of a similar question: was Gibbs different back then, on and off the field? Was he more animated? Did he have more presence? My dad has never been a skins fan but remembers Gibbs as someone who dominated games and intimidated the hell out of everybody (kind of like Belichick today). I know I'm gonna catch shit for this but today Gibbs seems like kind of goof to me.

Anyway, comments or thoughts would all be greatly appreciated.

Gibbs is actually quite similar now to how he was then..He did get pissed off on occasion. Example - last game of the 87 season against philly and we're down 14-0 at the half. Now, everyone knows we went on to win the SB that year, but philly was not on our level around then. they were just becoming a good team under Buddy Ryan. Anyways gibbs reportedly threw a trashcan (or was it a desk, i dont remember) in the locker room, and was spitting fire at his players...bottom line , we came back and kicked philly's ass heading into the playoffs... the only difference in gibbs now, from what i can tell is that he seems to be one step behind in clock management, and some of the playcalling issues that i hear people complaining about.. Hope this sheds some light..

gibbs seems to me to be a bit mellower but not much.

Jay Schroeder led a great 4th quarter comeback to win the game at Philly, setting the stage for a nice run to the NFC Championship. The Giants shut us out 17-0, but the next year, the Skins won the Super Bowl.
