I don't think you do anything with Lloyd but put him on the field! I know I am going against the grain here, but let's take a look at the last two weeks.
1 catch - 8yds when he finally got in the game vs the Lions
0 catch - but beat the defense deep and ALMOST made a great catch inside the 5.
Yeah, these aren't great numbers but I do believe if we can put him out there, he has the speed and talent to stretch the field for our offense.
Let the flaming begin...
I agree. I think we need to get all our guys involved early.
jbcjr14 10-16-2007, 01:08 PM LOL no flaming necessary. Not sure what you're trying to point out there but it did give me a good laugh. You pretty much flamed yourself with that take.
Haha, after a few hours I have come back to read my rambling. It made no sense at all. I hereby apologize for my horrid rambling.
sandtrapjack 10-16-2007, 01:19 PM But he (Lloyd) does have an obvious injury, he's head has clearly been stuck up his ass for 2 years now. Poor guy, what a shitty outlook on life.
I don't care who you are...that sh*t is funny right there!!!!!
But yes, to answer the question, you CAN deactivate a player, but it is not a long term thing. Players are activated and deactivated on a week by week basis.
The teams roster number is always set at 53. But teams are only allowed a maximum of 45 players on the active game day roster. So there are always 8 players that are inactive for any given Sunday. Coaches shuffle players to and from the active game day roster to the inactive roster as they see fit.
Oh yeah, Lloyd could cry to the Union all he wants, whether or not he is active for a Sunday game is purely the coaches decision and the Union cannot interfere with that. The union is there to protect the players rights and make sure he gets paid what he and the team agreed to. The Union cannot dicatate to an organization the 45 man game day roster. As long as Lloyd is getting paid, the union stays away.

Hahaha....I was thinking the same thing after I read the post before it.
"HeadUpHisAss-itis" lol
Soup's Uncle 10-16-2007, 03:38 PM I'd play Brandon Lloyd.
paulskinsfan 10-16-2007, 03:49 PM Personally, Im sick of this whole so and so is in the coach's doghouse argument, I think its crap now and I used to believe it. Exhibit A: LaVar. LaVar was my favorite player, and I jumped on the whole "he's in the coach's doghouse" crap, but the fact of the matter was, LaVar wasn't that great of a player. He had a bum knee and he didn't follow his defensive assignments, so he got benched. Exhibit B: Adam Archuletta. Some said he was in the coach's doghouse, so they benched him. Truth of the matter, Adam Archuletta sucks, which is why the Chicago's injury riddled defense just benched his ass. If a player can play, and wants to play, then they are put in the game. Lloyd just doesn't care, he made his money and now he just doesnt' care, so he doesn't perform to his highest level.

If he would just get his head on straight, I'm sure he would make plays to help the team. Campbell made a reference to Lloyd's recent hard work in practice, so perhaps he's making an honest effort to win back the trust of his coaches and teammates. I'm really hoping that the Skins can get some value out of the guy after giving up a 3rd and a 4th to get him. The big mistake was giving him a big bonus up front when he still had a year on his contract.

Soupmeister - I would hope the Skins learned their lesson from Llyod and not give out picks like its candy.
As far as bonuses go - I wish that teams could go more of the route of performance bounses instead of signing and roster bonuses, but unfortunately the agents (at least the good ones and not idiots like Ricky William's who was a rapper that signed Williams to a performance driven deal) will make sure their clients sign deals that are heavily dependent on signing bonuses and roster bonuses. Since contracts are not guranteed the agents demand that the player get signing and roster bonuses that are more easily achievable because history tells us most players never get to see the salaries in the later years as they will become cap casualities. Unless a player rengotiates his contract like many of the Skins players have the salaries in the outyears of the contract will almost never be achieved - it is rare and I thought Shawn Springs was pretty close to being cut because of this but the Redskins had no other alternatives so they kept him at his high salary but I would not be surprised to see them ask Springs again to take a pay cut and if he doesn't next offseason he may be a prime canidate to cut.
Hence this is why I like the draft outside of the 1st round - you can sign players to 4-5 year deals with relatively light signing bonuses - so if the player does not pan out you simply cut him and your cap hit is not that large. Just think with the 3rd and 4th round pick the Redskins gave the 49ers for Llyod they could have used on a couple of offensive lineman to provide some depth. If you don't think you can get a decent lineman in the 3rd or 4th round think again - we got Dockery in the 3rd round and he turned out to be a descent player for the Skins. How about the TJ Duckett trade - you think we could have gotten a couple of lineman from that one too? Just venting now - hopefully the lineman will come back and we roll off a ton of wins to reach the playoffs.
Crazyhorse1 10-16-2007, 06:47 PM Just curious - with the offensive line in shambles right now and the team looking for able bodies is it possible for the Redskins to deactivate Brandon Llyod and free up a roster spot to sign another offensive lineman?
The reason I say deactivate is you cannot cut Llyod right now due to cap reasons and I don't think you could put him on IR if he is actually healthy just to free a roster spot. But if you deactivate Llyod wouldn't this allow the team to free up a spot for an offesnive lineman and not have to put Randy Thomas on IR who may be able to come back in December?
If you deactivate Llyod yes you only have 5 recievers but I would think getting another offensive lineman is more important at this point than carrying a reciever who may get in for one or two plays a game.
B. Lloyd is not presently the risk Moss is. It's the wrong time to be getting rid of him.

What are you kidding....? We are in week 6
Lloyd has 1 REC FOR 9 YARDS THIS YEAR.......SERIOUS NFL SKILLS..?
NOT SURE WHERE THEY ARE AT, HIS SERIOUS NFL SKILLS NEVER SHOW UP ON SUNDAY! That's a JOKE I hope.
If you really think he has SERIOUS NFL skills, you seriously need to have your head checked!
He SERIOUSLY needs a one way ticket outta DC! Win some lose some. He's a BUST!
