I think it's known that CP is not one of the hardest working guys on the team. He saves it for game day. I would say most NFL teams have guys like CP. Problem here is when you start putting the ball on the ground and you lose then everything gets brought up.
Maybe it should be noticed??
Many people thought Spurrier's negative remarks about coach's working 100 hours a week kind of cool. All went well with his light work schedule, and his reported golf days during the season, until we sucked.
If you need more work (and maybe the way Portis carries the ball needs work), maybe you should put in the time.
I love CP, and the guy is a total football man. I think he will get it done. This (as has been pointed out) may not be the best time to brag about short work days.
Judgement call on his part, and his judgement on such "media" matters, has not been all that good.

I recall when Tiki Barber used to fumble the ball a lot. He started working on that problem wit the coaches putting in more time to learn how to carry the ball differently. It paid off because his fumbles went down.
Don't get me wrong I am not a Tiki Barber fan but it is a good example of what Portis needs to do.
Paintrain 10-15-2007, 03:22 PM He was probably apologizing to Greg Williams for making the defense go out and clean up the mess he made with that fumble.
Portis needs to concentrate on becoming a better running back and worry less about running his mouth right now. When you are winning you can run your mouth but when your are losing then you need to focus on practice and the games.
Sounds like you have an ax to grind with Portis.. I don't see how an interview with FOX correlates to him not focusing in practices and games...
redsk1 10-15-2007, 03:28 PM CP's comments don't really bother me. As we all know CP will say about anything. He is not out of shape and i'd venture to say that he is a hard worker, you don't get to his level by taking it easy. There's nothing wrong w/ working hard and having a life too.
He's also an established RB and i think it requires a little less "studying" than a first time NFL quarterback that has a lot of little things to work on.
CP doesn't have a history of fumbles so I'm not concerned. He probably won't have another all year. I'm sure he feels bad enough for it not to happen again.

In the interview he jokes about how his contract does not allow him to work overtime on the practice field.
CP practiced two days in a row for the first time since last year just recently. He is playing terrible and needs to put in some more work on his game.
Maybe because I am in the local area I hear more of the stories about how Portis does not work hard on the practice field. I am just getting tired of hearing about it while his playing sucks.

.
I would disagree. CP is not in shape. He has proved that in the first few games of the season. In fact, there are other players who are not in shape as well. As much as I love Coach Gibbs, maybe he is being too soft on the players.
LOL I love how the shit hits the fan around here after every single loss.
Trade this guy, cut that guy, this guy is out of shape, that guy is doggin' it, blah blah.

Don't get me wrong. I love CP. I wear his jersey on game day and so do my kids. I do not want to cut him I just want to see him focus more Monday through Saturday and not just on Sunday because that ain't working for him right now.
Gmanc711 10-15-2007, 03:51 PM I think alot of it has to do with the nature of the positions too. Alot of Jasons extra work, I'm sure is film work and just learning how to play the position of quarterback....its really not that difficult to learn how to be a good running back, you either have the skill to do it or you dont. I really dont think Portis' mistakes up to this point could be corrected by any extra work (not saying he shouldnt put in extra work, but hopefully you get what I'm saying)....
The Failure rates for QB's are so much higher than RB's that you almost have to put in that type of work to be successful..

Unless someone sneaks into Redskins Park we don't know what he's doing or not doing through the week. I wish we would stop speculating on crap like this.
