RobH4413 10-16-2007, 12:53 AM Where do the excuses stop? Did we go w/o Moss and the starting o-line in NY? It has little to do w/ injuries. Great coaches and organizations prove that over and over again, that's the whole point.
I'm not saying we're the New England Patriots, I'm saying we shouldn't fire our coaches.
The NY game was w/out Jansen and Thomas for most of the game. I think the players and coaches definitely share the blame for that loss, it was heart breaking. Our team isn't without flaw, we have issues.
I am just pointing out that your over-reacting.
If not Saunders and Gibbs, than who? Do you really think that would help this organization? Do you really think starting from scratch AGAIN is going to help. Comon, you've got to admit we're heading in the right direction, and we're looking like a damned fine competitor for an NFC wild card spot.
I'm not making excuses, I'm simply saying right here, right now, we're in the best shape we could possibly be personnel wise.
MTRedskinsFan 10-16-2007, 12:59 AM I don't have any particular affection for Cowher but he would make us better quickly. Discipline, heart, execution, organization are all missing (badly) on the offensive side of the ball - you can't honestly argue otherwise. Starting over from scratch on offense, which is really kind of an exaggeration, would probably win us more games IMO.
I think there is real risk to the whole offense becoming disheartened by the utter lack of organization/management exhibited between Gibbs/Saunders. That's the scariest thing to happen, when the players don't trust the calls, decisions, etc. Didn't you feel some of that in GB and NY?

Dude, you can't be serious. We're 3-2... still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot, have been decimated by injuries, and you think we would win more games by starting from scratch?
I'm going to bed.

I'm going to bed.In addition, we've played pretty darn well in all our games.
Mistakes have done us in twice now, but theres no reason to panic.
We should spank Arizona pretty good this week.

I completely disagree that Cowher would be some sort of savior, and that immediate changes are needed.
But, if it makes you feel better to imagine the sky has fallen so as not to have any hope moving forward and be pleasantly surprised when we win only to call for say Jeff Fisher next time we lose...then so be it.
GTripp0012 10-16-2007, 01:11 AM Hey, if you guys can be satisfied w/ an offense that can't score a single point in the 2nd half of two games (already) that's your shame. I'm just saying that Belichick, Dungy, Cowher, (and probably the old Gibbs) wouldn't stand for that kind of shit beyond the blink of an eye. Has it been addressed in Washington? Hmmm. If the coaching doesn't address the problems what do you do w/ the coaches?
Lunacy would be a call for a whole organization shook up. I love GW. But you can't be a contender for anything w/o consistency on both sides of the ball. Gibbs hasn't been able to get it done going on four years (even the 05 run was inconsistent and relied heavily on a healthy Portis). And Gibbs/Saunders hasn't got it done going on two years.
Where are the excuses going to come from next?I fully support the right of a fan of a team to be critical of his team when logic supports his argument, but you seem like you would be happier as a fair-weather Pats fan who doesn't have to deal with adversity.
I'm not saying go root for another team, and I'm not saying don't be critical of your current team. I'm saying if you can't see the logic in the arguments that are being posed against you, it's probably just not worth it to torture yourself with these "crappy" Redskin performances.

No surprise in winning games, even the worst teams win some games, and we have one of the best defenses this year. I'm talking about the bigger picture.
Jeff Fisher? How about the Tuna:silly:
SmootSmack 10-16-2007, 01:20 AM Let's suppose Cowher comes in. Heck, for argument's sake let's say it's tomorrow that he comes in. And he says, you know what Jason's not my guy. I'm sitting him on the bench, starting Todd Collins and I'm going after another QB in the draft this offseason, and Williams and Saunders both say you know what we're not interested in coaching under Cowher, we're done here. And Cowher says you know what Moss and Portis I don't need you guys, I'll find some replacements in free agency. And Sean Taylor says, I'm tired of these changes. I want out. And so on...
Are we better off? Or are you saying we should just make a change anyway. Consequences be damned

Hate the Pats, don't like Belichick (respect the guy, don't like him). I a Skins fan since I was 11 and always will be. I'm pointing out the obvious here. In four seasons with Gibbs back (two w/ the great Al Saunders) we still have no consistency on the offensive side of the ball. I really think the era is coming to a close no matter what (Gibbs 2.0), he might retire end of this season.
Of course, Snyder would get crucified for publicly insulting Gibbs w/ a hit like that, but since Gibbs has pretty much taken a back seat when it comes to coaching what about bringing someone in to replace Saunders? What about bringing in the next coach now as the General Manager to restore discipline, organization, time/training/strengthening management.
I'm really just saying that aside from the D under GW there seems to be a lack of leadership, and some guys out there are proven leaders. I don't know what's gone wrong w/ the offense under Gibbs/Saunders, but excuses for everything under the sun can't be the answer.
